Breeze Review & and why i will never sail carnival again

I apparently read a different review than what the other posters read and responded to. I don't believe the OP was expecting more than what any other person would, and it seems there was some kind of issue on every day of the cruise. I would have been upset and disappointed as well.

I hate to read when others have a bad experience on the cruise, but I would not try to put it back on the poster, to say that he/she is just a whiner, or has expensive tastes. I don't understand the need to break someone down just because they have a different opinion that you. I take the good and the bad and try to figure out what's best for me. It actually does help to read a bad review so I can stay away from that ship/bar/excursion/restaurant, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

jp12687, Thank you for your straight forward review...and thank you for your details and reporting how you felt...also for reporting the good and the bad.

I'm always surprised how others tell you how you should have felt and how you should act to enjoy your cruise...and in my opinion bad service found at many different times during your cruise is not minor problems.

A couple of years back, we were lucky and had a great Carnival Breeze Cruise with great food and good service...I am someone who doesn't wait to resolve issues...but I not telling you to be me...and you did report issues...besides you really should not have to address the problems...businesses suffer from many people who find complaining to the business to be even worse than the problem itself...so they just don't come back...and the business suffers in ignorance.

We wish you the best...and hope you have many good cruises. :):):):)

The OP gets to feel however he feels, ya'll.

OP, thanks for the review.

My DH and I aren't wired the same way, but that's OK, too. Unless it's something over the top rude or somehow completely inappropriate, we tend to flow, but I have friends who need things to be more structured. I get it. I don't have to be that way to get it.

Hope you find another line that you love and really works for you all the way around.

That night at 11:15 was supposed to be caribbean music in the cantina which sounded great. So after dinner i went to the casino with the plan of meeting my girlfriend around 11:15 at the cantina to enjoy some caribbean music. Well at 11:15 we get there and its still Amy singing cover songs. 11:30 rolls along and still cover songs. 11:45 still cover songs...so we leave. No explanation is ever given why caribbean music didnt happen.

This happened on our last cruise. Turns out, my wife had grabbed the Fun Times from the bed after turn down, which is the next day's events, not that night's....

Doh!

Not saying you did this. Your description of events just reminded me of our gaffe.

I have been on 14 cruises and never had a bad experince and we've had fires, missed ports, total port changes, no ports at all, really really rough water, horrible servers, theft out of our luggage, gas leaks in our rooms that made it unbearable to even step foot in and probably worse. I have also traveled everything from celebrity to carnival.

The problems you are talking about happen on the nicest ships to the worse.

I have been on celebrity were dinner has taken 2 and a half hours to get through sometimes 20 minutes between courses. But my family never dwells on it. We sit relax, hang out, talk and enjoy our selfs because at the end of the day were not cooking so who cares.

As servers walking around on the desk there are only 1 or 2 that walk up and down the whole top deck getting drinks for the thousands of people aboard and they are usually only out during peak ours. So its hard to cater to one couple or even one area of the boat. There a bars all over the boats its very easy to get your own drink. A lot of cruises these day are a lot of self serving.

As for the singer not showing up maybe he or she was sick some times thing happen something that minor should not effect a vaction.

For your steward not clearing out your fridge. They are human with a lot of rooms with multiple guest and co workers telling them things throughout the day sometimes they forget things just like you would. Tip for next cruise just write a little note and put it on the bed. Thats what my family does and while they are in there cleaning they will see it and do what you have asked.

My luggage has arived at 10 oclock at night thats how all cruises are. Tip for next time You should pack Everything youll need for the day in your carry on. This tip is listed on every cruise website...

Cruise ships want you to buy everything and every anything you should of done your research on the pictire program before purchasing. Asked what price and size pictures were included ect. Thats not their fault you didnt ask or know what was included. Pictures are also expense they are on every cruise.

All the problems you have stated mostly aren't problems to begin with are just the way most cruises work. Maybe you should just a different vaction next time.

Yes some things aren't ideal but you make the best out of every situation. I guess my family being a waitress, my mom a lunch lady and my dad a police officer were just happy to be on a vacation.

Do your research before your cruise so you no what its like and your not upset with the ending result.

This is a great post! And it is the reason I only cruise on Carnival now. I have had issues with every cruise line I have been on. NCL, Carnival, RCI and Celebrity. When you know the service is the same you may as well spend as little money as possible for the cruise IMO. And I just find that the type of cruiser on Carnival fits me better. It really is a more fun line to cruise on IMO.

I was on the Breeze just two sailings later and what a contrast in experiences.

I admit, we are pretty easy to please. We expect the MDR will be slower than we prefer it to be so we don't eat there every night, we seldom make any special requests from the room steward (we emptied the mini fridge ourselves) and have never ate at the steakhouse.

I think a lot of this comes down to each person’s personality. I mean, if you will yell at the Ruby Tuesdays server for slow service, you will do the same thing when you are on a cruise. I would not consider myself a door mat by any means, but when service issues come up, I try to extend the same grace I would want given to me.

Any one of these issues OP explained is not a big deal but I can see how , if you are someone who gets frustrated easy, could add up to an unsatisfying cruise.

For us however, our Breeze cruise was the best one we have had yet, so much so, that while onboard, we booked the same ship, same cabin even, for next year.

You are a little high maintenance--nothing wrong with that. You just need to accept that and find a cruise line which matches your style better. Since you've the wherewithal to shell out for a GS, might want to try a higher-brow line like Celebrity.

Yes. You need to be sailing some line I can't afford and complaining to them. High maintenance is the nicest term I can imagine for this self-absorbed whiner. We have a couple legitimate beefs tucked into a 7,000-word manifesto. We all have problems. Most of us don't bother the universe with them.

Surfwrench,

I think you nailed it.

Basically he was refunded and overwhelmed by wine and various gifts yet still had issues.

I'd say Carnival is better off without their repeat business.

Awww, that is just not playing nice. He certainly had more obstacles to jump over than any pax should have. The offers of wine and refunds only came after multiply complaining....and who should be expected to do that?? Not good service at all and to tell him that CCL would be better off without him is below the belt. Sorry, but CCL needs to stand by their word and serve their pax better, requests shouldn't need to be repeated and repeated (to stewards). Yes, he could have emptied his own refrig but the fact remains that he asked his steward to do it and they didn't etc....don't agree with your nasty assessment at all. Passengers are paying for their vacation, CCL needs to own up without constant haranguing from their pax and deliver what is being paid for.

If cruising was as you described I would never cruise. Heck if there were many people who had the experiences you have I would never cruise. I love it, But I really like when I book a week in a beach house as well. You had a gas leak in your room and that was fine with you? Seriously? People stole things out of you luggage and no biggie? You were just glad to be on a vacation? I am just not that laid back.

I'm sorry you dwell on the negative and you would let these things ruin your vacation you paid thousands for.... I am just reading this now. I've been on many cruises and yes all those things have happened no I was not laid back but i did not dwell on the negative and I realize the cruise lines did not want or make any of these things happen. I love cruising and will never give it up and every problem I've had I contacted the cruise line and they handled it accordingly and that's all I ask for. The gas leak was found at 3 am and was fixed after breakfast that morning and they removed half the money I spent on my sail and sign card as well. And yes getting on the boat we had a camera stolen out of our bags in nyc we were not very smart puting something like that in a checked bag but once again the cruise company handled it I forget how it was years ago. I'm not putting down cruising at all I was just making a point that this guy who made this post was complaining about pointless things

Sorry you had some experiences that were not pleasing to you. Sometimes it is just bad luck or a bad day. I really wouldn't say "never again".

We sailed on the Breeze 2 years ago and had such a fabulous time we are going again in May.

The last time we had a bad experience in the dining room was on Celebrity Reflection last year. The host/hostess was so snobby. We paid a lot more for that cruise than most of our others.... paying more doesn't mean everything will be peachy :-0 We actually preferred Carnival over Celebrity. Most of the passengers were snobby too!

We really enjoy Princess too. It's elegant but not stuffy. Try other lines.... we have and love something about all of them.
