I don't know if it's changed, but we were there in 1999 on a Norwegian Cruise. It is a very lovely island - palm trees, white sand, snorkeling. You will probably have a BBQ and just get to hang out. When we were there, no other boats were docked - just us. So it was great!

We relaxed in a tropical paradise all day. There may have been a few vendors - but not a giant marketplace.

Calm waters, too.

It is a private island owned by NCL. You take a small tender boat and it drops you right of on the beach. There is snorkeling, other water sports (rafts and boats), and a small straw market. They provide a BBQ lunch. It is a very nice beach day. There is a lighthouse on the other side of the island, about a 2.5 mile walk. A day or two before the stop they have a port consultant talk about it. Basically it is a beach. I have only been when on the Dawn and that ship is so much bigger, and the island is so small that it gets pretty crowded.

Have fun, great snorkeling!

Hopefully you make it, we missed it last year becuase of a hurricane, and the year before that, we traded it with Nassau because of high surf, making it unable to land tenders, so we only got a half day. I am really hoping to make it next week!

The beach and water sports are pretty much it at Great Stirrup Cay. They do set up a small market area where GSC postcards and nicknacks can be purchased, but that's about it. As mentioned, there is a good BBQ set up by the ship for your lunch; free of course.

If you walk along the rocks to the south towards the bend of the island, you can see the next island south which is Coco Cay, the private island used by Royal Caribbean and Celebrity. You may see one of their ships in the adjacent waters.

Both islands are in the Berry Island chain of the Bahamas.

As others have said...beach, straw market, food and drinks are what you get. The beach was VERY crowded when we were there a couple years ago. So much so that we actually went back to the ship after only a couple of hours on the beach. That was nice because we finally had room to breathe on the pool deck!

Have fun!
