Which, if any, specialty restaurants or pizza places are open for lunch?

If any are open, would they be included in the UDP (or is that for dinners only)?

Speciality restaurants are rarely open for lunch, but it sometimes happens on sea days. Check the Freestyle Daily. It should be included in the UDP if it is. UDP works for cover charges only; a la carte is still extra but you get a 20% discount.

 

Pizza is ALWAYS available. You can get regular pizza most of the day at the buffet. For $5, they will cook you a hot fresh pizza and deliver it anywhere on the ship. I don't think the $5 is included in the UDP but you could ask.

On sea days and if the outdoors/weather is not good (BBQ closed, etc.) then they might open up an extra dining room or two to avoid long lines & huge crowds elsewhere. On our previous BA sailing, Moderno was opened, on a last minute basis - announced over the ship's PA system (not listed in the Dailies distributed) - serving a limited buffet menu, to handle the extra hungry walk-up crowd. Some actually took their plates of food & walk across to Cagney to sit by the windows, which the crew subsequently blocked off.

In the past, they've had done a special Jazz Brunch and Mystery Dinner, at extra costs by reservations, before the UDP days - on the Dawn/Jewel class ships ... at the risk of generalization, it varied with the ship and sailing itineraries.

Thank you for all the great info. We actually just booked a cruise on another line. Not because of the dinning but because of a dream itinerary, 1 more day and a balcony for less than we were looking on NCL. NCL is still on our list of lines to try. Again, Thanks to all for your input.
