transportation from N.O. airport to hotels

We are flying in a day early and wonder what is the best way to get from airport to Sheraton on Canal St.

There are 3 of us ....possibly 4

From what I have read a cab is your best bet.

A cab ride costs $33.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) for one person and $14.00 (per passenger) for three or more passengers. Pick-up is on the lower level, outside the baggage claim area. There may be an additional charge for extra baggage.

So, just to be clear, there are 3 of us arriving at MSY airport. Our cab ride to the cruise port area on the river would be $42 ($14 per person) instead of the $33. We will have 2 or 3 suitcases for our week long cruise.
