4Grandcats Posted February 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2015 We will be on the Silhouette in April. Our flight time isn't until 5:23 PM. I found a Celebrity excursion for 4 hours - Paddleboat ride and coach tour. It's $60 per person. Has anyone done this before? I assume Celebrity takes care of your luggage - which is my big concern whatever we ended up doing. Do you think it's worth $120 to fill up 4 hours? Thanks! CathyCruises Posted February 16, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2015 I don't. For less than that, you could rent a car for the day, keep your luggage, go wherever you like, and just turn the car in at the airport when you check in. That's what I would do, anyway. Do not like 'bus tours', no I do not!
hospital Posted February 16, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2015 We did a post cruise after our Summit cruise out of Puerto Rico. We used the licensed tour guides that were at the pier when we disembarked the ship. It was $25pp and your luggage stayed with you and they dropped us at the airport at the end of the tour. CHEZMARYLOU Posted February 16, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2015 We did a similar tour out of Ft. Lauderdale a number of years ago but I don't think it was $60 pp. We enjoyed the tour but I don't know if I'd pay $120. The best part was seeing the palm trees with Christmas decorations and the mega yachts on the water part.
4Grandcats Posted February 16, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted February 16, 2015 Thank you for your responses. I'm really at a loss as to what to do for all those hours - is there a private excursion I can look up on my own? We are dealing with 100 inches of snow in MA - thinking about palm trees and our cruise are my main saving grace!
CathyCruises Posted February 17, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 17, 2015 Okay well you didn't like my car rental idea. How about taking a cab to the airport (very close) and storing your luggage there, then taking a cab to the 17th Street area and taking the water taxi; its tons of fun, they have great narration, you see gorgeous homes and yachts, and you can get off and back on. We love lunch at Rocco's Tacos where they make fabulous guacamole at your table; that and a margarita make a great meal. Or you can get off near the beach which is lovely. Lots of choices. . . Greetings from snowy Natick!! We are also counting down the days to our next cruise. To store your luggage check out Bags to Go: http://bagstogo.net/baggage_storage.php For private excursion information you may want to post your question on the Florida Departures board. There are many locals who monitor that board and could probably provide suggestions. 4Grandcats Posted February 17, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted February 17, 2015 I'm sorry Cathy - it wasn't that I didn't like your idea - I was thinking it over. And your second reply was great. Loved all your suggestions. MarKay - (fellow storm sufferer) - thanks for all the links - I'll try them out. My main concern is our luggage. Thanks to all who are so willing to help at Cruise Critic!
