Oceania Flights

Hi all

we're looking at a cruise(our Oceania 6th) Los Angeles/Panama Canal/Miami(2016) and are just wondering if we take Oceania's flights (we will be coming from Manchester UK and will probably have to go via London) will their flights be a circuitous routing via a number of other airports or will it possibly be direct or........will we not find out nearer the date?

And (possibly) take flight deviation and book ourselves .

Thanks in anticipation

Josie

Not sure if you get airfare included in the fare but if you do I would check on paying the deviation fee & fly in a day + early maybe stay longer if you can

You can then choose the routing you want about 270 days out & see if there is any upcharge

If that does not work just look for air on your own

But do compare both options before you decide

Josie, you don't need to pay the deviation. You can ask how much the air credit will be for your cruise and see if you can get flights for less.

Although cruises are advertised with 'free air' if you book cruise only you will get a discount which can be quite substantial. Ask your travel agent what the cruise only price is and see if you can book flights for less than the difference between that and the free air price.

We fly from Manchester if we can and like to add a day or two on at the beginning and end of cruises. By the time we've saved the air deviation charge and the charge for flying from Manchester (usually a supplement) and taken the air credit we have cash left over for transfers or a hotel and we can choose exactly the flights we want.

I like to know flight details well in advance and would always choose direct flights if I could. Booking your own also means you can use Avios points or similar if you have them.

Hi all

thanks for you response. We have always booked our own flights/hotels and had a reduction from Oceania, usually so that we can fly direct to/from Manchester .On this occasion it will be what used to be called "open jaw" flying to one destination and returning from another. (Los Angeles/Miami) so will no doubt be via London . Just weighing up the odds at the moment.

Looking forward to this years trip on Riveria (Rome out/Istanbul back).

thanks again

Josie
