Some folks do it.

 

But, I question the logic. If there are complications, you are far from shore. If you are unhappy, you can not go back. If there are even moderate complications, the vacation you saved for could be a bust.

 

But, some people go for it.

I originally thought it was a very strange thing to do on a ship. But then someone pointed out that by the time you get home, all the swelling and redness can be gone and everyone just thinks you're well-rested.
