Problem With Transferring Reservation

We have a cruise booked through a TA that is not considered a full-service TA. When I call to get this reservation transferred to our normal TA, they tell me that they won't permit the transfer...so, I'm stuck! We received an awesome casino promotion that we would like to take advantage of. I would like to cancel my current cruise and book this new promotion, however, I don't know how much will be refunded to us (port charges and taxes) and our current TA won't tell me... Ugh! Anyone ever been in this situation and found a solution to this dilemma?

You should be able to determine what your penalty will be.

Have you made last payment for the cruise?

Do you know what " rate " you booked under?

The answer to these questions will determine what penalty Carnival will impose.

You will have to then ask if the company that you booked with what cancellation fees they might charge.

The first TA owns your reservation. It does not matter if not a full service agency. If the first TA won't transfer [highly unlikely] then your only alternative is to cancel the cruise and rebook with another. If you are in penalty, then you would have to decide if the money you would lose is worth it. Keep in mind even if not in penalty you could lose the cabin you chosen, in between canceling and rebooking.

This is why we never book with a TA. We like to be able to control our own booking directly with Carnival. You can find out at any time what the penalty would be to cancel or change. I hope you are able to work this out to your benefit. Whatever happens, enjoy your cruise!!

Did you book early saver or not? Are you past final payment due date?
