kc320 Posted September 14, 2005 #51 Share Posted September 14, 2005 Thanks Trent, sounds like it will work out fine for us. I will be with my parents & they like to eat early so we should be back at the hotel before dark.

PINEVIEW01 Posted September 14, 2005 #54 Share Posted September 14, 2005 We stayed at the Sheraton by the airport last year. Beautiful hotel, but didn't care for the food there and nothing else was close by to go and eat. We don't care where the hotel is, by the beach, downtown or airport, just in a nice area. I agree Helen. We also stayed here for the airport shuttle. we asked if there was anywhere to walk to for food. They gave us directions to some where. We walked and walked but, the area wasn't really good for walking and after a mile and a half we turned around. Nice hotel but you will have to taxi everwhere. tarheelmjfan Posted September 15, 2005 #58 Share Posted September 15, 2005 Trent, I noticed on another board that you said the Holiday Inn Hollywood does allow guest to leave their vehicle while cruising. Have you contacted them to get it confirmed? They haven't replied to my email. I was thinking of calling, but thought I'd check with you first. Thanks for being so patient in answering all our questions. :)
gc Posted September 15, 2005 #59 Share Posted September 15, 2005 tarheelmjfan I have been searching also for an adequate hotel to stay one evening before our cruise also. I found this information on parking at the Holiday Inn Hollywood fl. Parking Information · Number of Parking Spaces: 225 · Daily Parking Fee: $7.00 (USD) · FEE FOR OVERNIGHT PARKING ON PROPERTY. VISITOR PARKING $3.00 EACH ENTRY Ft. Lauderdale/17th Street AmeriSuites looks like a better deal to me!! gc
TrentS Posted September 15, 2005 #60 Share Posted September 15, 2005 gc - You're looking at the wrong Holiday Inn in Hollywood, try THIS one... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/hd/fllas Parking Information Number of Parking Spaces: 150 Complimentary Parking Complimentary (Uncovered). Ask us about LongTerm Parking if your going to the Airport or Port Everglades. And yes, I confirmed that parking is free, and you can leave your car while on your cruise. They do however charge $10 per person, each way, for the shuttle to Port Everglades.

Just got the Renaissance from Priceline for $125 for 11/12/05. Thanks again. Yeah, it's not the greatest view, but you can from a high floor on the east side... I-95 to I-595 EAST to US 1 North "Fort Lauderdale" (go past the airport, under the bridge, then immediately exit to the right). Take US 1 North to SE 17th Street, turn right on SE 17th Street and go east to SE 10th Avenue. (just before the big yellow Embassy Suites, there's a sign at the corner of SE 17th Street & SE 10th Avenue for Outback Steakhouse and Del Rio Tex Mex restaurants) Turn right on SE 10th Avenue and AmeriSuites will be on your right, just past the Outback Steakhouse and Del Rio Tex Mex. It seems a bit nicer than most Holiday Inns, which I don't normally care for. Thanks for the shuttle info. I guess we'll check the shuttle schedule then decide whether to take that or a taxi. LAUDERDALE BEACH BLVD FORT LAUDERDALE, FL 33304 UNITED STATES I was able to get a $70 rate :) with an entertainment card. Thanks That's an older Holiday Inn across the street from the beach. It's nothing fancy, but it's fine, especially for that price. I don't think you'll find anything cheaper on the beach. All the rooms are ocean view, the location is great, there are restaurants within walking distance, and if you want to take the Water Taxi you can get it at the DoubleTree Guest Suites 3 blocks to the west. The Galleria Mall is another block to the west of that.
nonna5 Posted September 15, 2005 #67 Share Posted September 15, 2005 Trents - Thanks so much for all your info to everyone. My question is on the Hyatt Pier Sixty-Six. Can you tell me if it has restaurants close by, beach access and how for it is from the cruise terminal. Anything else you might think we need to know would be greatly appreciated. Can you tell me if it has restaurants close by, beach access and how for it is from the cruise terminal. Anything else you might think we need to know would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for all of your help. Nonna There are several restaurants within the Hyatt Pier 66, but if you want to eat off property then it would be a long walk across the bridge to the many restaurants along SE 17th Street - Best to take a taxi, just a few dollars and 2-3 minutes. The beach would be a very long walk as well, but it's only a 3 minute cab ride, or you can take the Water Taxi and get to the beach from that easily... http://www.watertaxi.com/FortLauderdale/FLLHome.Asp The Hyatt Pier 66 is right across from Port Everglades. When you leave their driveway you go across the bridge and turn left right into the port. There are great views of the port from the south side tower rooms. If you get one of those you'll have an awesome view of your ship coming in on the morning of your cruise. I'm not sure when you're going to be staying there, but the pool is closed until October 25, and the hotel is currently undergoing a $14 million renovation. tarheelmjfan Posted September 15, 2005 #70 Share Posted September 15, 2005 Trent, Sorry, but I have one more question. :o I got an email from the Holiday Inn a few minutes ago. As you noted, parking is free, but they made a point of mentioning that they don't take responsibility for your vehicle. I know that this is common, but just wanted to check with you to see if it should be safe. Is this generally a safe area to leave our vehicle in? We're not particular with our vehicles, but would like to have doors when we return. :p Thanks again :)

We're not particular with our vehicles, but would like to have doors when we return. :p Thanks again :) Well that's the problem with any of the hotels that let you leave your car. The lots are wide open, there's no security to speak of, and anyone who wants can walk or drive right into those lots. I don't know what to tell you, there are no guarantees. It's not really a bad area, but the criminals will go anywhere to steal or vandalize. It's just off of I-95 though, if someone wanted to steal a car they'd have a quick and easy getaway. The safest place for your car is either in the garages at Port Everglades or at Park 'n Fly... http://www.pnf.com/ftlauderdale/porteverglades.htm

Figured we would stay at hotel near FLL with airport shuttle, then not sure of best way to get to port of miami next day. Suggestions on hotel and transportation appreciated! Thanks There are a number of ways you can do that. Taxis between Fort Lauderdale and Miami are very expensive. The cheapest way is usually to just rent a car. Other options are limos or a shared van service... We use Larry's Limo... http://larryslimo.com/ Or Tri-County Transportation... http://www.floridalimo.com/ These are along I-95, south of FLL with airport shuttles, but have little to nothing to walk to... Marriott Courtyard Dania Beach... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLHT Holiday Inn Hollywood... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/fllas FLL Airport Sheraton... http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/search/hotel_detail.html?propertyID=1115 Or if you're getting in early enough that you'll want to go out to dinner, shopping, etc. try these along SE 17th Street. Some have shuttles, some don't, but if not it's only a $10 cab ride from FLL... Renaissance... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLFL Holiday Inn Express... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hd/fllcc Extended Stay America... http://www.extendedstayamerica.com/hotels/fort-lauderdale-convention-center-marina.html AmeriSuites... http://amerisuites.com/reservations/locationdetail.asp?facid=3929 AmeriSuites is cheaper on Priceline, Hotwire, or Valuetrips... http://www.valuetrips.com/AMS/FL/F17.htm You may also want to consider just going on down to Miami and staying downtown, closest to the Port of Miami and Bayside Marketplace... http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/ JW Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miajw Hyatt Regency... http://miamiregency.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml Intercontinental... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ic/1/en/hd/miaha?irs=null Marriott Courtyard... http://www.miamicourtyard.com/ Biscayne Bay Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miabb Conrad International... http://conradhotels.hilton.com/en/ch/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=MIACICI Four Seasons... http://www.fourseasons.com/miami/index.html Mandarin Oriental... http://www.mandarinoriental.com/hotel/526000001.asp Holiday Inn Bayside (for the budget minded)... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/miabb
nonna5 Posted September 16, 2005 #74 Share Posted September 16, 2005 Thanks TrentS. We will be staying at the Hyatt on January 7th before our cruise. sandyneck Posted September 16, 2005 #75 Share Posted September 16, 2005 Wow, thanks for all the help. Here is another question. Hotwire has a 3 star FLL airport hotel with shuttle, restaurant and pool for $90.00. Any ideas what this might be and if it is a good deal? Thanks for all the help.
