Floridagirl09 Posted February 21, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2015 Hi Everyone! Cruising on Regal Princess in March and was looking at the Magen's Bay Beach, Scenic Drive and Shopping. Was wondering if anyone has taken this and if it's worth it? Also doesn't give a departure time...we want to go early so it's not that hot/crowded. Any info or suggestions would be great! It's our first time in St. Thomas:)
loudini56 Posted February 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Have done it several times. It's a good deal but you only have about 2-2.5 hours at the beach. If that's ok then go for it
itsjb1 Posted February 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Was a Magen's Bay last week, and thought that it was one of the most overrated beaches. Looks nice from up on the hill. And while the beach is sandy and the water is clear, on the day that we were there, there was not much beach. Surf came right up to the grassy and tree areas. If you laid your towel down on the sand, it got soaked. One vendor renting chairs, that you then have to drag to your "spot" and then drag back at the end of the day. O2B@Cagain Posted February 26, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2015 There was a big swell last week. That is why it is good to ask about the current conditions when you go to any island.
Ms411 Posted February 26, 2015 #5 Share Posted February 26, 2015 You won't know swell conditions if you book in advance, and even if you are on island very few taxi drivers are going to care about swell conditions. Most will take you where you say you want to go regardless of current conditions. SO, how can you find out what conditions are on any given day? I've asked this question before and did not get a response.
O2B@Cagain Posted February 26, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2015 I still stand by asking the taxi dispatcher. They don't want to take people to a beach that has dangerous riptides or waves. You can also get a wind and weather app for your phone. You can also check the National Weather Service, Weather Underground, or even the Weather Channel websites. :D
Floridagirl09 Posted February 27, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks everyone! Think we will wait til we're onboard to decide. Still checking out other beaches.... Heard very mixed reviews on Magen's. Hard to decide lol
