Hotel Recommendation in San Juan

I was looking there for next year. I always stay at the Marriott, but we spent some time in the lobby bar a year ago and I really like the vibe. I heard the pool is much smaller than Marriott, do you know if that is true? Did you have a balcony?

I haven't been to the Marriott in a while, but I do believe the main pool at La Concha is a bit smaller. There are two other infinity edge pools facing the beach, one outside the Ocean Tower and the other outside the Suite Tower so it does even out the spread of people a little bit. There is no waterslide like at the Marriott though.

We had a very narrow balcony that you could step out on. The Ocean Tower doesn't have balconies with furniture unless you stay in one of the suites. I've had a balcony in the Suite Tower with a table and chairs though. The Suite Tower is nice as well, rooms are spacious, many of the views are great but there are only 2 elevators and waits can be a little longer.

Thanks so much! definitely something to consider! Plus it is near my most important pre-cruise stop - the Walgreens :).

There is a new CVS across the street from Walgreens now as well, I believe it is in the same structure as the Marriott parking garage. I know it wasn't there last February and am not quite sure what was there, but everyone on the beach had CVS bags instead of the usual Walgreens bags!

we are cruising March 22-29 and staying 1 night after cruise at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel and Casino. We figure we can walk around old town at our own pace and it's right by the Carnival and I believe Princess dock. Royal is Pan American dock.

We haved stayed at Villa Herenzia and Hotel Milano in OSJ. We love the feel of the city and that we are able to walk around to actually be a part of it.. We have also stayed at Sheraton Old San Juan, liked it also, but sometimes they require a 2 night stay when we plan to only stay one night.

As this thread include lists as to the location of CVS, your hotel is approximately

200 yards away from a very Jorge one. Out of hotel, turn right, past the stalls selling 'faux designer handbags' etc and found on your right.

There is all sorts of information on San Juan.

Where you stay should be decided by not only selecting a good hotel--but, also what you want to do while you are there. [i.e walk around the old city, lay on the beach, etc]

There are 3 main areas to stay in--Old San Juan [walk to historic sites/ restaurants but no real beach area], Isla Verde [lots of hotels and restaurants and best beach area JMHO] and Condado [nearest the departure port with some hotels and a beach]

Enjoy your cruise. :D

excellent link.

Been to San Juan many times...

Stayed Intercontinental, Embassy Suites, Marriott but

My favorite is Renaissance la Concha hotel in Condado area

Near port, beautiful beach, walkable to Starbucks, Walgreens, many

Good restaurants.... You won't want to leave!!!

If you get a city view balcony you can see the ships in port.
