bindy1 Posted February 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Anyone ever go to Discovery Cove on day of debarkation in Port Canaveral? Looking at a shorter 4-5 day cruise and tacking on a day at Discovery Cove. Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts?
Orlando Vic Posted February 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Once you disembark, your cruise is over. So, I don't see why it would not work.
TrishePat Posted February 25, 2015 #3 Share Posted February 25, 2015 Anyone ever go to Discovery Cove on day of debarkation in Port Canaveral? Looking at a shorter 4-5 day cruise and tacking on a day at Discovery Cove. Good idea? Bad idea? Thoughts? Discovery Cove is FANTASTIC. By all means go there, but remember you also get a free 14-day pass to Sea World and Aquatica water park, the pass needs to be used before or after your trip to Discovery Cove. You can also get a pass to Busch Gardens for a slight up-charge. At Discovery Cove plan on spending the whole day there. All food and beverages are free all day (alcohol extra). They start off with breakfast and also serve lunch and you can snack all day. The dolphins are wonderful as are the fish (the stingrays can be intimidating, but are harmless). I love the river you snorkel down (usually manage to swim down it about 4 times). They provide you with mask and fins and if you wear glasses you can get for use that day perscription googles (wonderful, as I wear glasses). GO GO and have a Wonderful time! Capt_BJ Posted February 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 25, 2015 (edited) alcohol extra it is? When we went it was included .... web site does not mention an extra charge for this . . . ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES Available to guests over 21 years of age with proper ID. Island Sunrise-Mango and Rum frozen daiquiri Alada Colada-Pina Colada frozen daiquiri Red and White wines Anheuser-Busch Products *** if you do this on your cruise departure day I see two things to consider as already mentioned, if you are heading straight home after DC you lose the included days at SW/AQ and you'll also lose part of the DC day ... you might not get there 'til 9:30 or 10 (esp if you rent a car) .. off the ship at 8 leaves you an hour away from DC. Discovery Cove is a full day adventure with operating hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily. Check-in begins at 7:15 a.m. If you book the dolphin swim part, they give you your times when you check-in, we got to pick our time from what remained and were early so pretty much anytime we wanted. If you arrive late you are gonna have to be happy with the left overs. Neither is a show stopper ... just want to manage your expectations.
