Breakaway Pros and Cons

hi,

we sailed the inaugural cruise of the Breakaway. We stepped on board and hated it! If we could have gotten off and got our money back we would have.....that would have been a big mistake. March we are going on our 6th cruise on the Breakaway. We have even done the Dawn again to compare and yes we like the big ships. Attitude plays a big role. I do know I will cruise again so if I miss something there is next time. Let me list the pros and cons and if you want more info feel free to contact me.

Cons -- only 2 banks of elevators. (DH has problems walking so now I pay and make sure I am close to an elevator) ---- hate the jewelry shop ---- if there are delays disembarking it is a disaster too many people trying to get off---- do not like the buffet set up --- too much to do

Pros -- so you don't have reservations for a show; there is a wait line and if people do not show up you can get in ---- Fat Cats ---- Uptown Grill --- if you are willing to share a table we have never waited more than 5 minutes in the MDR --- the staff --- Spice H2O -- I live they have sitting areas all over the place where you can sit and have a conversation without competing with bar music --- variety of entertainment -- the Brazilian restaurant Modero -- Taste or Savor for breakfast --- the Waterfront (during the day it is a great place to sit and watch the day go by) --- freestyle dining --- love the spa (we again have a spa balcony) --- those are the highlights.

Pros: outstanding and diverse entertainment options; very high energy ship with a fun atmosphere; specialty dining was excellent

Cons: small balconies; smokey casino; Savor seemed understaffed (didn't hit Taste -- no such issues in the Manhattan Room).

Thinking of giving NCL one last try to redeem themselves from a lack luster Gem cruise

Tell me what you like and dislike about the Breakaway

Also, what are must do and must see things on the ship

Thanks and Cheers!!

What is it that was lackluster about your Gem cruise? Whether or not you will like the Breakaway will be largely dependent on what you are looking for in your cruise experience. Outside of the Haven, you need to be willing to endure the crowds. If crowds aren't a problem for you and you are looking in quality and variety of entertainment, I think it is a good choice. Beyond that, others have pretty much nailed the pros and cons.
