Sri Lanka Embarkation ( Colombo )

Hi new member to cruise critic so be lenient to me please, haha.

Has anyone or is anyone Disembarked a Celebrity ship At Colombo ? We are thinking of doing a back to back and the second cruises last Port before docking in Singapore Colombo, we would like to disembark there and have a holiday , emailed Celebrity 5days ago so it might be quicker to get a reply from the " forums experts,Loki forward to any relies.

I am pretty sure you can get off anywhere you want, and they certainly will put you off anywhere they can if you are ill or have been fighting.

 

I do remember seeing that someone had to be disembarked recently off a P & O vessel for medical reasons, and that a fellow traveller wanted to leave also to be with her, and that that person was charged a "disembarkation fee".

 

So there might be an administrative charge to cover the specialised additional paperwork.

This is known as a Downline Disembarkation. You do need to get it cleared by Celebrity. It will depend on what the laws of the country you are entering are.

 

Example-- there are some countries which don't require a visa from cruise ship passengers who are there for only one day, but do require a visa from those who are entering the country for an extended stay.

 

It is also possible that you would need to clear Customs and Immigration in that country, which day passengers wouldn't have to do.

 

If you booked with Celebrity directly, call and ask for the paperwork needed to be sent to you. If you booked through a travel agent, they should be able to request it for you.

 

From the Celebrity website FAQ:

 

"Can I Join My Cruise After It Starts Or Disembark Before It Ends?

It depends on the specific itinerary of your cruise, your nationality, and various United States and foreign laws. Joining the cruise at one of its ports of call or leaving the cruise prior to its scheduled termination point may be prohibited by law. If you need to join late or leave early, or both, submit your request in advance and we will tell you whether your proposed changes will be permitted.

 

For more information, call 800-256-6649. There is a cut-off date for submitting this information, so make your request early. Please note that no refunds, prorated or otherwise, are granted to customers who join their cruise late or leave their cruise early. Certain governments impose fines or other charges when a guest permanently disembarks from a cruise before its final port of call. The guest will be responsible for those charges."

 

Obviously that phone number is for US customers. You'll need to find a similar Customer Service number for your country.
