Mayan Ruins-which one?

I am trying to decide which Mayan ruins to go to, Kohunlich or Chacchoben? Chacchoben are closer and cheaper but if Kohunlich is much better I will do that. Any experience? Also, why can't you get to Kohunlich from Belize, its closer?

The tour we went on in Costa Maya was at Chacchoben. We went with David and Ivan and had a blast. They know just about anything you would want to know about the ruins.
