New Orleans Departure

We will be cruising with Carnival leaving port in New Orleans in December. We would like to tour New Orleans either before or after our cruise. Any suggestions on where to stay and how to go about this would be appreciated.

You might want to go over to the North American Homeports area and click on Gulf Coast Depatures. There is so much to do and see in New orleans and your hotel choices really run the gamut it's hard to answer this question without know how much time and type of budget you have. To start, I would stay in a French Quarter hotel (there are dozens to choose from).
