Cookies and snacks

We always do the late traditional dining so around 5:00, I'll run up to Lido and make a cheese, meat and olive plate to bring back to the balcony to snack on while sipping wine.

This is one of my favorite parts of the day. So relaxing and just enough to tide us over until dinner.

I like a late night snack so I get cookies and cheese from lunch buffet and keep in cabin, then I'll get hot chocolate and finish the night. There are no snack foods available late in the evening.

We don't starve on Carnival. The post is irrelevant.

Seems a bit ruthless. You're fresh out of the casino at 1am and need something?? What do you do on Carnival? Look through room service for some boring items?? And then wait 30 minutes. Wander up and see if there is any conveyor pizza? Maybe you brought a baggie from home and like a squirrel, stashed some bits from the buffet and kept in your luke warm fridge. Maybe checked the 60s style couch in your room for a 1/2 eaten twizzler between the cushions? Not so irrelevant now eh?? Options, my friend, options.:D

I know this is a Carnival thread but I have to say our last cruise on Princess the IC and coffee bar/coffee card was one of my highlights of our cruise .I wish Carnival had something like this ,it was great to get up at 4 am go sit at the bar and have my coffee and bring back a fresh donut and tea for my wife to wake her up in the morning

As others have posted, cookies available during buffet opening times, as well as room service. Also, at the specialty coffee shop there will be cookies available for a small fee. I think under 2.00, and they will be substantial cookies like all the cakes and desserts in that display case. I personally have not yet tried them, but if all else fails, there are these.:)

I have tried the cookies there at the coffee/sweet shop and absolutely ADORE the oatmeal raisin cookies!!!! To die for good!!! I'm not a huge eater though so those cake slices were just too much for me.

The first time that we order room-service, I save the lid that tops the plates. I then take the lid, turn it upside down and make a bowl. Each time I visit the Lido buffet, I take a piece or two of fresh fruit and make a fruit bowl for our cabin. It is nice to have healthy options handy.

We also love cashews so I usually pack a can or two for a 7 day cruise. Salted nuts are one thing that we cannot find on the ships.

A trick I learned when my children were younger, was to pack a small stack of the basket-style coffee filters. We then use these to put a handful of nuts into or to hold our morning bagel in lieu of taking the glass plates out to our balcony. When the kids were younger, they came in extra handy for holding ice-cream cones, hot-dogs, tacos or to dole out a handful of chips or cookies.

I do not take plastic zippy bags to the buffet but have taken a coffee filter in my pocket to bring back a slice or two of the banana bread that is so delicious and only seems to be available at breakfast time. They are also good to use as a cover for small plates, if we want to bring something back to enjoy on our balcony. The buffet does not provide to-go covers and nothing more unappealing then carrying an uncovered plate in an elevator crammed with people....... I have seen people do this and it just amazes me.. Maybe I'm just OCD ... who knows...

Coffee filters....that is genius! I need to add that to my list. I do tend to eat more the last half of the day than the first [emoji106]
