megr1125 Posted March 15, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2015 There are not many..... You can try this place http://www.twinlimo.com/ but I am not sure if they are still in operation. They did ONLY accessible transportation.... You need to contact some places and ask if they have accessible vehicles...this is not the easiest thing in the world to arrange either... http://www.paramuslimo.com/ http://www.elscarservice.com/

I need name of cab or car service which must be handicap accessible for 6 people...Anyone?? I'm really not the car service person. Perhaps Meg can help. Are you doing a 7 day cruise from Manhattan? Parking would be $280. My gut feeling is that a round trip car service that would accommodate 6 people and luggage and be be handicapped accessible as well would easily be in that price range. At first blush it sounds like a good offer, but in your case I don't think it will save you any money and will add an unnecessary layer of complexity to your trip. 138east Posted March 15, 2015 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2015 Do you have the driving directions to the Manhattan pier across the GW Bridge? It should be an easy drive on a Sunday morning.
Rare mking8288 Posted March 15, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 15, 2015 OP, what level of accessibility needs do these 6 adults need for the trip to the pier - walkers or wheelchairs, or just low ramps? Our favorite car service, often mentioned here, Carmel is ADA compliant and has wheelchair accessible minivans - which can be reserved by calling & speaking to a CSR by calling directly for a quote, etc. They have larger full-size van that can take more pax- speak to them to see what they can do & prices. In our section of the county within NYC, we have a growing fleet of licensed "green" taxi, some of them are "accessible" with rear bumper ramps for loading - Toyota/Honda minivans by advanced reservations (being the easiest as availability is limited.) Mom sometimes go by these for her medical appointments with her walker & escort attendant - designed for 3 to 4 riders at most especially when space is needed for luggage or belongings. You will need 2 of them each way so it can get rather expensive $$. As 138east/Carol said, for ease - you might be better off driving to the pier & park on the rooftop - there was a sale promotion with discounted rate for parking longer than 7 days - might've been discontinued. gram2trips Posted March 15, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted March 15, 2015 My hubby uses a power chair. The other 2 couples going with us thought it might be cheaper than parking 2 cars at the pier to get an accessible van...i have a call into someone, waiting for them to call back... megr1125 Posted March 16, 2015 #11 Share Posted March 16, 2015 Twin Limo is still in business...the owner is calling me back with a price...thanks Oh good! My mom passed away a few years back so I do not need this anymore... BUT they were great with us...and our house was an hour from where they are based! It wasn't cheap but considering the distance, and that it was them or pretty much nothing else, they were AWESOME! And it's good to know that Carmel has accessible vehicles too, thanks!!
