garycarla Posted March 22, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 22, 2015 I am sure it will be very comforting to the OP to know that YOU don't think the alarm is necessary. And apparently, you feel that an alarm is necessary.

SJS Posted March 22, 2015 #28 Share Posted March 22, 2015 I was on a cruise a few years ago with my 10 year old grandson. He sometimes sleep walks and he got up in the night and went out the door into the hallway and I never heard a thing! Thank goodness I did hear him knocking on the door to get back in. An alarm is a great idea!
Grandma Dazzles Posted March 22, 2015 #29 Share Posted March 22, 2015 If you use the chain lock/security double lock or whatever it is called your door is locked for the night. I can't imagine mistaking cabin door for the bathroom door - you would realize it was the cabin door and not the bathroom door as it would be locked. An alarm is a great idea! Just curious if he unlocked the door to get out. I just think a lot of people don't lock the door with the security lock/chain; many people just close the door - same in hotel rooms.
phoenix1181 Posted March 22, 2015 #31 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Why do so many here have a problem with this? The OP needs something she feels comfortable with to assure her MIL's safety. Nothing unreasonable about that. Why do people feel it's necessary to tell her why it isn't needed?
