Train from Kiel to Lubeck from Eurodam Holland

This is our first time in international cruise with a group of seniors. So really need help to organize this for them. We'll be in Kiel on 5/21 from 7am-5pm Anyone know how far is the walk from the terminal to the train station, whether I should buy ticket ahead or not (we have 6 altogether). What is the best time to leave and come back. Also will I have time to stop by in Hamburg and is there something we must see there? Thanks in advance for your help.
