cruizinator Posted March 30, 2015 #26 Share Posted March 30, 2015 If you spend some time in the visitor center...be sure to use one of the many telescopes available. Look up on the mountain above nugget falls...there's a good chance you'll see mountain goats on the side of the mountain. Sightings aren't guaranteed...but we've spotted them every time we've been there.
boleynkid Posted November 11, 2017 #27 Share Posted November 11, 2017 Our ship docks at 13.00 and departs at 22.00. Grateful for people's thoughts please on trying to do a whale watching tour (operator says allow 4 hours) and a visit to Mendenhall Glacier. Research suggests to allow at least 2 hours for Mendenhall so it seems to me time would be tight to do both.
atanac Posted November 11, 2017 #28 Share Posted November 11, 2017 You know in reality the glacier is much like Niagra Falls or Mount Rushmore. After looking at them for a minute or two it's kinda like "okay what's next!" haha

Whale tours leave from Auke Bay. Reserve a cab to pick you up at auke bsy after the tour and drive you to Mendenhall, which is about 10 minutes away. Then reserve another cab to take you back to the pier, about 20 minutes, 30 in heavy traffic. Plan on an hr RT to follow the trail to the waterfall.
