DutchCruiseFan Posted March 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2015 Hey guys, i have a few questions about the Diadema ( Dream ) class. The first question: has Costa any orders for more of these vessels? The second question: i am a huge nerd when it comes to cruise ship bridges but i haven't seen any pictures of the bridge of the Diadema, is anyone in possesion of these pictures? The third question: has anyone sailed the Diadema and if you did, did you like her? Thanks in advance!!
G.M.T. Posted March 22, 2015 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2015 a. Costa doesn't have any new ships on order according to this list: http://www.cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/cruise-ship-orderbook.html b. Diadema bridge photos, do a search, i.e. https://www.google.de/search?q=costa+diadema+bridge&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=EU0PVbu8O4PxataVgZAI&ved=0CDEQsAQ&biw=1408&bih=704 c. I didn't like her, way to big and too many passengers.
Moss865 Posted March 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted March 23, 2015 I have also sailed on the Diadema and also thought that it carries too many passengers and will not be sailing on her again. With this many passengers on board, at least on my voyage, you had to be in the theater 45 minutes before the nightly performances if you wanted a good seat. I did like the promenade on deck 5 though.
CASPALL Posted March 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted March 23, 2015 Would love to go on Diadema. We came into Savona on Pacifica on Saturday morning and Diadema came in after us and berthed opposite. We thought she was amazing to look at. Sorry I didn't take any pics now

Blondie008 Posted March 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted March 31, 2015 My friend not long back from Diadema - he has sailed costa a few times and always been happy - sadly not on Diadema - poor service from bar staff - great cabin steward - no hot breakfast at buffet  - only cold cuts ...all in all - he was disappointed... crankycruiser1 Posted April 25, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2015 We cruised on the Diadema - 16th - 23rd March. Not a good experience. Costa want you money for sure. No water on the table at dinner - if you want water you buy it. Never any ice cream/sorbet on the menu. You want it you buy it. Crumbs never cleared from the table. No finger bowl to wash fingers when served with mussels. No buffet alternative to eating in the restaurant. Although you can pay to go to a speciality restaurant. Nothing hot at the breakfast buffet eg no eggs, bacon etc. For a hot breakfast you can go to the main restaurant, order hot food, wait for ages and when it comes it is barely warm. No books in the library - but you can hire (free) a kindle, But the range and number of English books is poor. No port talks. Expensive shuttle bus charges at ports. Please note the most expensive was in Marseilles - but the port provides free shuttle buses - Costa will not tell you this. English hostess pretty anonymous. We thought she might have arranged a get together dream on. She did not take questions at the end of her disembarkation talk. The Dutch hostess said it was O to take our own bags off - so much quicker and easier. Tips automatically added to shipboard account whether you like it or not. That's enough for now. Anyway it's back to Royal Caribbean for us.

Anyway it's back to Royal Caribbean for us. Most points here are the way that Costa operate. They are not Royal Caribbean (nor should they be) Granted I prefer Royal, but Costa offer a different product which for the price, we enjoy. Dancer Bob Posted April 27, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 27, 2015 (edited) Several of crankycruisers points- I point the finger at their travel agent, who should have told them about Costa's policies before taking the booking. The Marseille shuttle is a topic of discussion on tthe ports-of-call board right new. The consensus seems to be that it's arranged by the Port Authority but no one can find out for sure what days it operates, let alone its operating hours. crankycruiser1 Posted April 29, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 29, 2015 Agreed that Travel Agent should have given more info. But I would not necessarily have expected to know everything. However Costa seems to be about the only cruise line that does not produce a British brochure.
zenithienta Posted May 12, 2015 #14 Share Posted May 12, 2015 Oh, dear.... Really is so bad to go in the Diadema? I am in a Spanish group called Costa Diadema on Facebook, and most of the people who already went there is happy with the ship. They complain about the strange opening hours to eat/lunch at the buffet and the restaurants at noon, but besides that, they are very happy with the cruise. Crankycruiser1, really in this ship don't have Brithish brochure? Oh my God! That's incredible!!:eek:
Dancer Bob Posted May 13, 2015 #15 Share Posted May 13, 2015 I consider the lack of evening dining options to be by far Costa's weakest point. But any travel agent who claims to be a cruise specialist should know that and be sure their clients are aware, otherwise they're no better than a telephone order taker and aren't justifying their commission. The Diadema is Costa's biggest ship and is obviously going to have a lot of people during European vacation times- something else that I look for in a credible review. Also their newest- it takes time to get a ship working right. As far as unfriendly staff, I try to keep an open mind. Could be, but I've also met self-proclaimed English-speakers who need to look at themselves before castigating someone they know English isn't their first language. Or who I don't want to talk to either.
