Car rental neat the pier in san francisco

Anyone know if there is a car rental place that is within EASY walking distance of the pier in sanfrancisco where the Crown would be docking?...guess we will be at 39 yes?...they changed us to an overnight and was thinking a car would be good to get around more easily....if pick up was CLOSE to the pier

Crown Princess looks like it docks at Pier 27. The closest will be the Budget that is the Hyatt at Embarcardero Center 4 (which is a 15 minute walk, or you can hop on the F-Market for $2.25; but with luggage it may be difficult at best).

 

There is also a dollar rental at 2500 Mason - which is marginally closer (by .1 miles).

If you are just going to sightsee - a car in SF would be a terrible Idea, unless you wanted to go Napa (which even with an overnight would be tight especially with arriving at 1pm). Parking is sparse and expensive, and the downtown area is not easy to navigate. I'd recommend public transport or one of those hop on hop off tours. The F- Market will get you from the pier to Union Square, and further to the castro. If you want to get out to Alcatraz buy your tickets NOW - as they tend to sell out.
