Large Party from St. Thomas to St. John

We have a party of 17 that would like to go to St. John for the day from St. Thomas...what is the best way to do this?

Arrange private taxi (they hold up to 25 people) to Red Hook, buy round trip ferry tickets ($14) for each person, and board ferry to St John. They leave every hour on the hour.
