Port of Tampa Car Rental

Need some info /recommendations for renting a car at the Port of Tampa.

 

We are flying home out of Orlando. Will there be a drop charge?

When we did this in 2012 there was no drop off charge identified on the bill. We rented a vehicle from Hertz. They have a satellite office at the:

 

Marriott Waterside HLE

700 South Florida Avenue

Tampa, Florida

 

They have a van at the port to take you to the hotel. There was an area across the stret where are the transportation vans were queued.

 

We then spent two days in Cocoa Beach before returning the vehicle to their Orlando airport site.

Usually in FLA there is no drop fee for one-way rentals :) however, you may not qualify for some of the very low rates offered for round trip rentals. :(

 

Besides Hertz, there is also an Avis just a little farther away, and Enterprise within a few miles that should pick up, and (especially if you get a great deal) just about every agency is at the TPA airport - which is a $25 cab ride from the port.

In addition to Hertz at the Tampa Waterside Marriott, there is an Alamo location at the Westin-Harbor Island. This is about 5 minutes from the port. I believe that they offer a shuttle to/from. Here is the location of the closest Enterprise Car Rental to the port: It is perhaps 2 miles or so away.

If you look at the map on the below link, you can see where Enterprise is located in reference to the port which is at Channelside Dr.

There's also a Hertz stand located inside the port terminal where Brilliance docks just after customs. They can check you in and the car will be waiting in the parking lot. No need to go to the Marriott.
