Caribbean at New Year

Wondering if the shops will be open at New Year?? The 1st is a sea day but from then on wonder what the ports will be like, anyone have any experience of this??

From my experience on 2 previous Xmas/New Year cruises in the Caribbean where there were shops at the ports they were open, and some ports actually had special souvenir markets set up for the cruise ships. Sometimes you have to travel out of the port for shops and restaurants some these will be close by.

We were in Barbados on New Years Day and the port shops were open. Don't know about in town as we went to the beach. Where better to spend New Years on a beautiful Caribbean beach drinking a few cocktails.
