Loonbeam Posted April 10, 2015 #26 Share Posted April 10, 2015 The question here is not SHOULD you have insurance (asked and answered) it's why this happened. A lot of travel providers now check the travel insurance box by default (because its in their favor). USAir/American has tried to do this to me, as has Orbitz. I don't have the time to do a fake booking to check but someone could see if Princess has it checked as you go through the booking process the next time they book online. cruiseaholic31 Posted April 10, 2015 Author #28 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Thanks for all the advice and comments. I appreciate everyone's perspective. It will all work out after the fact and I am going to find out more from our friends about what really was said and will or did happen.

RDC1 Posted April 10, 2015 #30 Share Posted April 10, 2015 That's very nice of Princess to do that. Why not? They have the money, so when the space is available, what does Princess have to lose? The rest of us buying insurance is what they have to lose. If they give people that don't buy insurance the same outcome as those that don't they why buy. Also who is to say that they would not have sold the spot on whatever cruise the credit is used on. Unless Princess limited them to only last minute space (not likely) there is no way to say that they would have space available.
Loonbeam Posted April 10, 2015 #31 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Thanks. On orbitz its just checked now for some trips (one reason I don't like using them) As you go through the booking process on princess.com, Princess Vacation Protection and transfers appear as Recommended.
