alabamadrifter Posted April 12, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2015 Never again will I depart the Port of NO. Port traffic is a cluster...website directions are wrong. This port is in the absolute worst location.
alabamadrifter Posted April 12, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted April 12, 2015 (edited) I can see the NCL Dawn....but can't get to her.[emoji35] 2 hours to go 2.7 miles. Not a traffic cop in sight. Edited April 12, 2015 by alabamadrifter
Langley Cruisers Posted April 12, 2015 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2015 Sorry for your frustration. I hope you are now onboard and ready for a great cruise. :)
alabamadrifter Posted April 12, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted April 12, 2015 Thanks LC...we are onboard. I just had to vent. We live equidistant between NO and Port Canaveral. We are typically NCL customers but may have to rethink that and sail Carnival out of PC.
jgmpuma Posted April 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2015 You were hitting a lot of traffic from the French Quarter Festival. Traffic is usually not that bad on a Sunsay.
Lydia B. Posted April 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2015 Yep it was the festivals last day was yesterday. All the cops were here in the French Quarter. It is a very big event combine that with all the rain and you had the perfect storm.
Langley Cruisers Posted April 13, 2015 #7 Share Posted April 13, 2015 Thanks LC...we are onboard. I just had to vent. We live equidistant between NO and Port Canaveral. We are typically NCL customers but may have to rethink that and sail Carnival out of PC. Understood. :) Also sorry that RCI has pulled out of New Orleans. :( So... I will recommend them for PC - Freedom of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas sail from PC and perhaps you might enjoy a Royal Caribbean cruise. rvsullivan Posted April 17, 2015 #8 Share Posted April 17, 2015 Six consecutive years sailing out of NO and never longer than 10 minutes from hotel to ship! Not sure what you saw, but usually there are more cops along the pier than the rest of the city!!:D Where were you parking that you couldn't get to it? alabamadrifter Posted April 20, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted April 20, 2015 RV....we were in the Julia Street Parking Lot across from the cruise ship. I'm learning that it may have been the perfect storm of traffic and atypical of the area. It was raining, there was a music festival in the French Quarter and two cruise ships departing at 4pm. I commented to my wife that we probably wouldn't depart at 4pm as most of the passengers were sitting in traffic. Sure enough they announced we would leave later because they were "waiting on supplies."
