Fort Lauderdale. Just a bit of time

We will be in Fort Lauderdale from the time we get of the ship (scheduled to arrive at 7AM) until 5:20. We are renting a car for that time. Any suggestions for what we can do? Maybe a really interesting restaurant on the water? Any great ideas? We may not want to spend a great deal of $ since our shore excursions are going to be fairly pricey.:o

We always enjoy the water taxi rides. $5 unlimited transportation per day pp.

Butterfly World is nice, I've been there twice. It's about a half hour away by car.

 

I like to eat at "The Oasis Cafe," right across from the beach.

I believe there is a restaurant in the Lauderdale area (or at least there used to be) that I think was a fun seafood restaurant. All of the tables had the little mallets on them for cracking your shells and everyone sat around "playing" their mallets and using them. This has been quite a few years since I was there but if anyone knows of it I would live to know the name.
