  1. Mine, also! I have never put any Asian ingredients on my salad. What a great idea! Another good idea that I learned here is to go to the roast beef section and top your salad with a slice. My main go to is Mexican. I also like to add that rice mixture in the salad section (not sure what it is called) and also love most salad additions like beets, raw veggies, nuts, and cheese.
  2. Two of my favorites for salad. I hope the salad bar is still good. Oceania had pitiful salad fixings.
  3. We found the MDR sit down breakfast on the ship was the best food we had all week on the Sunshine. Ate there every morning!
  4. Did the lady take the oils and whatever was sold🙄 to her? My DH almost always gets the hard sell. He tries to tell the masseuse up front that he is not interested. If they leave him alone, he will tip extra. If they hammer him, no extra tip. Now with the service charge being automatic, I do not feel inclined to tip extra when I have my hair or nails done. Although, they usually don't try to sell me anything.😉
  5. Sorry about your room temperature. Which leads me to something that I have never thought about. Can the heat/air system be turned completely off in the staterooms? I also love the crisp, and all of the appetizers that you ordered. Hope they have the same menu when in CO in a little over a week. I have never had the Peruvian chicken. What does it taste like?
  6. Both were good options! I hear that the Family OV has an extra half bathroom like the Disney ships have. A shower and sink. The other bath is a normal full bath.

  9. UPDATE: I called HAL again today. I could see that there were still no Signature Suites, but some Vista Suites were miraculously available again! None have been showing up until last night. Very painful conversation with the HAL rep today. She was very nice and helpful, but talked so fast, that at times, I could not understand her. Also, she did not have a clue what I was talking about until I asked her to read notes on our booking. Really makes me wonder how the "Priority Waiting List" works. BTW - I was told again that I should not call them, and that they would call me. 🤨 We have now Upselled to a Vista Suite, which is under Canaletto. The cost was $399 per person (better than the $549 it was previously for an Upsell. And certainly a lot less than it would have been to upgrade, outright, to a Vista Suite. We saved $1000 pp.) So for our 14 night cruise, that's $28.50 pp, per day, to have a good location, midship, a bit more space, and most importantly to us, more storage! We are still on a waiting list for the Signature Suite. Since I had a hard time understanding this rep, I think she said the rest of the money that they have on hold would be refunded to our CC. Again, I was also told that I don’t need to call back. But I will call back on Monday to let them know we will be in the air. And tell them not to automatically put us in the bow if a SS was to become available. Off to go check my reservation online. I will be certain to take a screen shot this time! I am also emailing my TA to get a new invoice.
  10. I have enjoyed reading your views on the Vista. Thank you! Have a wonderful and safe adventure with your road travels!!! I thought the dish we had in Rome had cream. Perhaps it was just the fresh Parmesan mixed with the pasta water. I made once back home with a recipe that I found on the internet. I thought it called for cream. Thank you for the recipe.
  11. I love the dish! If not adding cream (which I thought was the way is was made) how do you make yours?
  12. I did have a Peanut Butter flavored ice cream that I liked, so that must have been it. At the Movenpick Hotel, you have to go to the street level and there is a glass door on the side of the building. We understand that the place has limited hours. We walked all the way over one afternoon from our hotel at The Hilton.
  13. We did not notice anything special about the ice cream. In fact, for most of our recent week on the Vista, I thought that Humphry Slocomeb was a flavor of ice cream. I asked one of the attendants which ice cream was the Humphry Slocombe. He started pointing out different flavors. I replied that I would try it. Whatever flavor he gave me was tasteless. Some of the other flavors of ice cream throughout the week were good, but nothing outstanding. DH was disappointed in the chocolate. And when getting a cone of ice cream, the scoop barely made it to the top of the cup of the cone. DH had to ask for another scoop. BTW - Hambagahle and Mareblu... The best ice cream that we have ever had was from a stand is Movenpick. Had our first taste in Sydney Australia, and then found it again in Switzerland. Also found it in the lower level of the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam!
  14. They called groups, and you went and got inline. They also arrived late. By late, what time was that? We are suppose to port in Edinburgh (South Queensferry) at 8:00am. Hoping that officers will be onboard shortly after. We are planning a DIY in Edinburgh, but because we tender and have to take a bus in, our time is limited. It will be a Monday, so hoping that helps. Immigration works by Deck? Which order?

  16. jazznruby - We were on the same cruise. Our beach day was in Harvest Cay. I was not expecting that a 5000 passenger NCL cruise ship would be docked at the pier, when the Vista had to tender. Had the same experience with rowdy guest, crowding, and having a hard time finding a lounge because of the other ship getting there first. We stayed about two hours and had enough. One of our two "free" booked excursions were a disappointment, as well. The port of Costa Maya being cancelled. Our tour in Cozumel was just OK.

I have no reason to involve her. I am very happy with the special rates, OBC, extra's that we get through her. 😀😉
  18. We had two choices. Full refund, and then recharge the card if and when another stateroom became available, or have them keep the money for when/if one became available. We thought it easier than going back and forth on CC transactions. Also thought if they had our money, they would be more motivated to hunt for another stateroom. We had to be moved from one stateroom to another on two 10 day B2B cruises, but the staterooms were identical. The room steward hung the closet things on a rack and rolled them over to the other side of the ship. We had to pack up all of the rest. Of course, it was not neatly. I took everything out of the drawers still folded and stacked in order of where they were in stateroom #1 drawers. Moving the bathroom thing were the worse part. Did not take too long, though. I would want to have a say where my things go in the new stateroom since it would be a different layout.
  19. Lucky you! I honestly do not think that after putting all of our belongings away in one stateroom that I could muster up the gumption to move again the next day. But with 13 more nights ahead, I might be willing. 😁 As I mentioned earlier, my TA is not aware that this is happening. I did not go through her. I went through the Upsell department directly. 😉 I doubt she could do anything. If there are no staterooms... 🤷‍♀️ This happened to us last year. After getting off of an overnight flight to Amsterdam, I had a message from HAL saying that they had an upgrade from our SS to a Neptune. I knew that it would not still be available after a days delay, but looked up the stateroom number just in case. It was a HC accessible stateroom. We declined. My fear is that this could happen again. So if we have not had any success before leaving on the 7th, I do plan to call and let them know we will be traveling. It would be much easier to get a call while I still have access to my cell, and the deck plan handy on my computer! Knowing my DH, he will want to nip the whole thing and get our money refunded before we leave.

  22. Thank you for those words. Made me 😃. I was assured that they were all sold out, as that was what the rep saw on his computer. We do not feel the need to be compensated. We would like the SS, however. As with Haljo1935 experience, I am thankful that HAL at least called about the mistake instead of taking it upon themselves to move us to the bow. That would have really upset us!!! I do wish that I had acted sooner in asking for a reduction on the Vista Suite. 😯 I kept thinking that the Upsell rep would call me back and I let that go too long. My fault there! Haljo1935 - Thank you! I remember reading your story, and also read a very recent account about a similar situation when a couple was moved out of their long booked stateroom and only discovered the change when checking in online. It was a special stateroom, as well. I cannot remember which cruise line this person was sailing with. I do check availability on my end, daily (more than once 😁) by computer. Yesterday, when I told the rep that I would check back in with them, he made it clear that the Upsell department would get back with me. In other words, don't call them! My husband heard the conversation, as well.
  23. My TA had nothing to do with the upsell. Last year, we received the offer and I went directly through HAL, just as with this upsell. My TA never knew we had made a stateroom change. I just took a look at my confirmations from last year (yes, I save everything) and I never received an updated confirmation showing the change. It was done about 10 days out. Again, it doesn't matter if I have one or not. Although I do have proof that HAL has charged our card, they cannot magically find me that SS.
  24. No, the Upsell rep said that a new invoice/confirmation would be sent out within a couple of days. She may have said it would first be sent to my travel agent, who would then forward to me. However, on a lark that afternoon, I did go on HAL's website to take a look at my booking. The new stateroom was listed on my confirmation! Paid in full, and I was checked-in. And remember, my credit card charge had already gone through and on our Visa account. I should have taken a screen shot, but did not have any reason to do so. 🤔 Besides. what would it matter in this circumstance, anyway!
