Yes Spring Bay is much easier to access and has a nice beach and somewhat similar topography. I agree that is a good option for you.

Resurrecting an old thread with a question for Blue Water - What is our best bet on getting to and from Spring Bay? I don't see it as a ship option - only the Baths are offered as a ship excursion. I was considering a ship excursion, as it looks like the timeline and ferry transfers are close. We have 14 people in our group, and we don't want to be left behind!! Thank you for all of the info you provide for everyone!!

With a larger group you could negotiate/work with a driver who would drop you at Spring Bay and return for you at an agreed upon time. You could add a tour that would include a view of Savannah Bay, and perhaps get dropped in Spanishtown for a lunch at the Bath & Turtle and some shopping. You can walk to the ferry from there.

We are on the 7-3 clock as well for our stop to BVI, and are hoping to do our own trip to the Baths. Looks like if we get going early and catch the 7:45 ferry, and head back on the 12:40 we should be fine. I thought I read somewhere that there is a restaurant/bar at the top of the Baths. Can anyone confirm? We'll be on the Escape March 12-19, 2016.
