michelle028 Posted April 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted April 26, 2015 Hi all, Planning on doing the Pisa/Florence on your own tour through the cruise line. Has anyone does this tour? Do you remember where they dropped you off in Florence? How long were you in Florence for? Just trying to plan a walking route in the most efficient way possible. Any help you provide will be appreciated, thanks!!!
goattyer65 Posted May 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2015 We booked our own tour with Rome in limo it was great you get a knowledgeable guide and you get to personalize your tour and do what you want when you want they are a fabulous company. We used them in all of our Italy ports they are reasonable in price and very comfortable and clean vehicles. They pick you up right outside the port
Candy mum Posted May 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2015 (edited) Hi we did this tour in January on the Jade we were dropped by bus after we had been to Pisa with our guide she gave us a great commentary and lots of advice on what to see and where to go she then walked the group to the outside of a leather shop where you could use the toilets ,she checked we were all aware of the meeting time back at the leather shop then we were on our own ,we were right beside Santa croce church basilica ,I think we had about 4 hours to look around we walked to the duomo easy walk and it was really close to the academia gallery,we had a great time at both Pisa and in florence :) Edited May 1, 2015 by Candy mum
Cat4158 Posted May 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Just about every tour from every cruise company takes you to the square in front of Santa Croce. It's a huge area and close to all the main tourist sites. You will love Florence!
Rare electro Posted May 1, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2015 Have you considered taking the train to Florence? $120 -140 pp seems crazy to me for a bus ride into Florence when I can do it by train for about $20-30 pp. There is lots of information on the Ports of Call board about taking the train. Which ever way you decide to get there, have a great day in florence. It is a great city. Lois
vondofife Posted May 2, 2015 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2015 We booked a private tour through Share a Shore Excursion to both Florence and Pisa. We booked with another family that were on our roll call. We were picked up at the port, in an 8 seater air conditioned minivan. We had a tour guide who shared information about the area as she drove. In Florence she had prebooked Academia for us and managed to get us straight in (skipped the long queues outside). We had a couple of hours after that as free time to explore and then she recommended a lovely place for lunch. After lunch, we drove to Pisa where we stopped for one hour. We had prebooked tickets to climb the tower at 4pm. After this, we returned to the ship. A fantastic day. I would highly recommend this company.
