MadMark Posted April 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2004 They did this on our Carnival cruise and there were some extremely talented singers on our cruise. No work, no kids, no dog, no stress . . . just sun and fun and food on . . . April 2005!
sunnyv Posted April 3, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2004 YES, they do. In addition, I hear the Caribbean Princess is going to have "Princess Idol" similar to the TV show. starsjohn Posted April 3, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 3, 2004 It has usually been the last night of a cruise, and have seen some very professional entertainment as well as some Gong show material. John
Jolimont Posted April 3, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2004 How do you sign up? Do they audition? My in-laws are both professional musicians, I think they'd get a kick out of it. pmcrusta Posted April 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 6, 2004 It will be in the Princess Patter (ships newspaper). Or go ask the Pursers desk and ask usually the last day before disembark.
tdf799 Posted April 6, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 6, 2004 We were on the Diamond Princess last week and they had a week long Princess Idol competition with the finale on the evening of the last night. They had ships crew and the audience doing the judging and the 6 survivors were all pretty good. No big prize for winning, but a lot of fun. derf5585 Posted April 6, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Jolimont Not really an audition. Just show up for the rehursal. They back you up with a piano and drums so if you have music bring it. I had a problem. I play clarinet. The rehursal was fine. But durning the show the band could not hear me. They didn't have my mike on (different mike than singers). So we were fighting each other. Insist on a Dress rehursal where the show is going to take place. Or tell them what happened to me and to make sure it will be correct. bcs819 Posted April 7, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 7, 2004 one of our favorite parts of our Carnival cruises was the Talent show. On the Grand last year, we were very excited about the Talent show and were hugely disappointed They had hardly any interest and apparently solicited anything they could get (they said this)....then brought on a YODEL-ER! Hopefully your cruise will have more interest, we were disappointed "so many cruises, so little vacation time" Grand Princess - March 2003 Carnival Pride - June 2002 Carnival Victory - June 2001
meyerhaus Posted April 7, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 7, 2004 Should I bring my tuba? I am on the 7/11 Golden Trip to the Southern Car. and am looking forward to the talent show. So, I should bring my own music? I sing professionally, but end up singing more classical than Pop, so I would look forward to being able to do the opposite on the trip. Although, how funny would it be to bust out in "Nessun Dorma" on a cruise!?!
