Any Recommended Shore Excursions In Bermuda?

I will be sailing on the Majesty to Bermuda on September 25th. I was just looking for a few shore excursions ideas and reviews that some of you recommend or do not recommend. I am looking for at least one good snorkeling spot and maybe some kind of fun tour of the island. Thanks

Hartley's Undersea Dive is GREAT. Here they take you out to a reef. You climb down a ladder into the water and they place a large helmet over your head. This helmet has large glass windows and fresh air pumped to it. Then, you jump off the ladder and sink 12 feet down to the bottom where you take a guided walking tour around the reef. GREAT picture opportunities as you feed and hold fish, etc. Lots of fun.

Next, Don't Stop The Music Island Party at Hawkins Island. A boat takes you to a private island (serving free rum swivels the whole way). Once at the pier, the boat is met by a island band and dancers who escort you to the beach patio where there is a huge BBQ, open bar, live island music, dancing, etc. It is GREAT fun.

We went to Burmuda 3 years ago with RCCL. Both these excurssions we booked ourselves and were cheaper that way.

There is a long bus tour of Bermuda, around 6 hours, which almost goes down every road of Bermuda. You'll see St. Georges, Hamilton, and the King's Warft areas, plus many of the beaches along the southern shore. Taking this tour on the first day may give you ideas to do for the second and third days.

All of Bermuda is beautiful. The bus driver was an excellent source for Bermuda civics.

Don't miss the Crystal Caves (but do this on your own).

Also-- the Snorkel Park at the dockyards is some of the best snorkeling I've ever done. It's free and it's clean. Avoid the crowds and go after 3:00pm. Be sure to wear aqua socks... very rocky.

Tip: bring cornflakes and feed the fish. You'll be SWARMED!

Dolphin Quest is pricey but very cool.

Do the caves on your own, then pop around the corner to the Swizzle Inn for a rum swizzle.

Horseshoe Bay should not be missed. Adventure down the beach and over the rocks for secluded beautiful beaches.

In st. George's, do a self guided walking tour then take a taxi or walk up to Tobacco Bay for snorkeling and swimming (small and crowded, but very pleasant)

Do a little shopping in Hamilton.

Bermuda is easy to get around on your own. The bus system is reliable and cheap, and the drivers are very helpful. The express ferry is a great way to get back and forth between Hamilton and King's Wharf.

I second the Hartley Helmet dive -- one of the high-lights of the trip.

Grotto Bay cave at the Grotto Bay resort was cool, easily accessible, free and filled that Friday morning time slot that I had free.

Snorkel (just about anywhere) Church bay was excellent, had to climb down some rickety steps to get to the beach. Bring dog bones, they work excellent for feeding the fish, and don't forget an underwater camera.

Rent a scooter, if you ride a motorcycle in the states now, and view the whole island. We had a blast!!! (if you are not experienced rider --- don't do it).

Achilles bay, between tobacco and st. catherines was not crowded, and excellent as well.

We just got back and highly reccommend both Hartley's Helmet Dive and The Reckless Native Catamarran. The snorkling experience and info (Joan from the Restless Native) provided was TOP NOTCH. I was so pleased with both excursions I would do them again, and probably will next summer! :)

Another excursion to consider is the Exotic swim tour offered by NCL. The Captain is an absolute hoot and you get to see Bermuda from a different perspective, motoring by billionaires homes and then going for a swim off a private beach. You do not have to be a good swimmer as they anchor in very shallow water about 3 feet or so.

Have fun and enjoy the Majesty ! She's not all glitz and glamour but she has a charm all her own with a great crew. :)
