Seasick

The "movement" of a ship is affected by the strength of the wind, the direction of the tide relative to the wind and the heading (direction) of the ship. The size of the ship is also a key factor - the larger the ship then, generally, the more stable it should be. If one were to compare the Clipper ship you have in mind with a "conventional" cruise ship of similar size I would say that, on some headings, there could be more movement on the Clipper because of the effect of the wind on the masts etc. On some other headings, with some sails raised, the Clipper would be more stable because of the steadying effect of those sails.

In the Med. you can have no wind / light wind / strong wind - the latter partly seasonal. On our various trips on the Royal Clipper and the Star Clipper in the Med we have had "flat calms", light and medium winds and, once, a strong gale.

As you can see there is no simple answer to your question. If you are attracted to the Clippers, which you seem to be, maybe you should just "go for it". There is an Australian couple, from the eastern side of Oz, now friends of ours, who we have met three times on the Clippers including twice in the Med.

My kids, who have never gotten sick on a cruise ship, all got seasick one night on our Royal Clipper. It was crazy choppy; the nurse (who was also the beverage server at dinner) was handing out some kind of dramamine to everyone.

It was only a few hours out of our 10 day cruise, and it certainly didn't change their minds that it was the best vacation we ever took ~ so much that we're doing another one next summer. HTH.
