Does carnival keep "notes" on past passengers?

Yes notes are kept. They know who has previously removed tips too. Probably have a heads up on hard to please passengers. Most customer service businesses keep track of stuff like that.

We really appreciate the effort the crew makes to know our names. We try to do the same and DH always makes it a point to address the crew by name as well as the week goes on.

 

I agree. I know it's got to be hard. I work at hospital and even though I have a sheet that has all of my patients names on them I try to learn them all. But some days its harder than others because i've been off work and I have 10+ new names to learn. I can't believe how well they do learning all the names. They do so well. And I know they know our names because they call us by name in the hallway. Unlike me, I can cheat on the name before I walk in the room, they don't have that ability al the time. They amaze me!

My 1st time on Seabourn, as I was walking up to check in- I was greeted by name. I said to him, I know you take a copy of guests passports and study everyones picture so you can call guests by name but I have not given you my passport yet?? His reply, you are the only woman under 30 on the ship, we know who you are!!

Based on your post, sounds like using "Hey Bud" instead of Dr. would also be the preference in the mid west.

 

How do you address judges in the mid-west, by first names too? They are my public servants.

3 cruises down and we have always been addressed Mr. (insert hubby's name), Mrs. (insert my first name), Princess (insert 12 year old daughter's name), and (insert 16 year old son's first name) - the man or some version. Never been addressed just by our first names. Fortunate are we, I guess.

So, I go on Carnival Triumph pretty frequently because I live right here and can jump on for a weekend getaway. When I was on in early December, I was in the buffet line for lunch on day 1 and the guy serving says," Hi Angela, nice to see you, did you come by yourself again?" I was completely taken aback and was like how do you know these things?!! The guy says I was your assistant waiter in the MDR on your last cruise, it was October, wasn't it?

 

It was. Color me impressed. Those guys have crazy memories!

The casino definitely keeps notes on you - although they may or may not be accurate.

 

On my Valor cruise last January, on the third day of the cruise (only playing Three Card Poker, Let It Ride, and Craps), the pit boss asked me if I played blackjack. I said I did occasionally, but had no plans to on this cruise. After thinking about it for a few minutes and thinking it was an out of the blue question, I asked her why she asked. She said "If you play, one of the pit bosses would have to watch my play as the casino manager on your 2010 Pride cruise listed you as a card counter". That is interesting because 1. I do not count cards and 2. My bet amount never changes.

I agree the staff have great memories. I was recently on Diamond Princess and on the first morning I went to order my omelet the chef recognised me from a cruise 6 months previously and said "hello its miss Lynda I think, welcome back, would you like your omelet this morning" I was so amazed that he could remember me after all the people he must have served in the 6 months. Must have been my lovely smile to him every morning (lol) or I ordered a weird omelet! I just wish I had a quarter of the memory they have, I usually forget someone's name 10 minutes after they have said it.

I agree 100%. I have my doctorate in education and don't worry about the title or how I am addressed by others. I believe I still have my title in the Carnival profile listed as Mr.

 

I generally get called Mister <first name> and call my cabin steward Mister or Miss <first name>.

The only thing I know they keep a note of on us is my son's special needs issues which, last time around, got us on the boat first. Before FTTF. Before Plat/Diamond and even before the wedding party (the bride looked really peeved as we walked by and waved :D).

I was always impressed by the steward and his or her assistant.

But more so by our waiter. The first evening I asked for a hot tea as the dining room was chilly.

Each night as we were seated, he promptly appeared with a huge smile and a hot tea. We talked about his new daughter and how he would be retiring from Carnival after 2 more cruises to be a dad. He made our trip so much fun.

Last summer, we went on two cruises about a month or so apart. When we went on the second cruise and arrived on ship, one of the first things we did was go to the Maitre' D to see if a particular headwaiter was going to be working as we'd really liked him the last time.

 

Not only was he working, but he remembered my son and the first night he said, "OOOOH! MISTAH (firstname)!! So happy to see you back again!" and gave him a big hug, which my son thought was just the best. It just tickled him all to pieces that the headwaiter remembered him.

 

On our spring break cruise, we saw Jen Baxter again even though we hadn't sailed with her in a couple of years and she was like, "OMG! YOU GUYS ARE BAAAAAAAAAAACK!" and gave us all big hugs. Later in the cruise she sent us chocolate covered strawberries, which I thought was really nice.

 

We also joked with Irish Bob (who'd been on the Triumph, a ship we've sailed multiple times, previously) that we were TOTALLY stalking him. He thought that was pretty funny and told us how his girlfriend had given birth so he'd be taking a break soon so he could go home (to east Texas, IIRC) to see her and his new daughter. :D He's such a sweetie...I'm sure he'll make a great dad.

When someone gets banned they usually come here to complain.

Sometimes it is interesting.

Other times not so much.

I disagree with you. We southerners use the title Miss in front of a female's first name once they have reached adult hood. It doesn't matter whether the female is married or not. We do usually say the person's last name if they are older than us, if they hold a position in society that deserves our respect, or if we don't know them very well. Generally, if we prefer a title not be used when speaking to us, we tell them to just call us by our first name.
