Are there any "must see" ports of call?

I have been looking at Western Mediterranean cruises and noticed they all have two or three French ports of call. Is this just because of their location or do they actually have some attractions worth staying a whole day at? Are any what you would call "must see" destinations?

 

French cities I have seen listed:

 

Toulon (for Provence)

Villefranche (for Nice)

St. Tropez

Marseille

Cannes

Calvi

Sete

 

Of course there also is Monte Carlo, but I already had some interest in that.

Without knowing you it would be hard to say what would be a "must see" for you. We have been to Toulon and Villefranche and would go back to both (and do something other than we did). Here are links to our cruise pictures from the south of France.
