NMLady Posted May 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted May 23, 2015 Can a mobility scooter be rented in US (preferably Bayport TX, but could do Miami FL if necssary) and then picked up by the company in Barcelona Spain? Or is it strictly same country delivery and pickup? About how much does it cost per day to rent a scooter? Hubby would prefer a scooter but if not possible would see about renting a rollator in US and returning it to US, or even purchasing one. Distances are becoming too far for just using a cane. Or is it strictly same country delivery and pickup? You'd have to contact the approved rental provider for the specific cruise line to see if what you're wanting can be done. About how much does it cost per day to rent a scooter? Cost depends on various criteria such as : Embarkation port Disembarkation port Type/size of scooter required Weight & height of end user If insurance is purchased. Renting a rollator will actually cost more than if you purchased a rollator and took it with you Edited May 24, 2015 by xxoocruiser
DonnasMom&Dad Posted May 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2015 I've rented scooters, from Copenhagen to New York. Southampton to Venice, No problem, it's in the cabin, when I get there, and I leave it there when I'm finished with it. Everything else is looked after by the rental company. You just pay the bill, and use the scooter. :D Cato :) Completed Cruises ! RuthC Posted May 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2015 There's a "One-way" additional charge to the rental fee when you are not returning the scooter to the port of origination. I have rented from Sydney to Seattle, and more recently from Hong Kong to Vancouver (the full charge for that was about $850 for a 31-day cruise). This is in addition to the drop off/pickup fee that's charged for delivering the scooter to your cabin, and you leaving it there when the cruise is over. The cost of of the rental is a larger charge for the first week than for subsequent weeks, although I may be thinking that due to the delivery charge, which is set. Last year my one-week charge (returning to the same port) was about $175, while the 2-week charge (again, a round trip) a few days later was about $250.
