Everyone make sure you check your accounts

I really don't understand why anyone would have such a dramatic reaction to human error. There's an add/remove button next to vacation protection when you log into your account, your card was never charged, and no one was hurt.

Keep an eye on your account regularly. Problem solved. What's the end goal here? Are you looking for OBC? A free cruise? The PVP to be fired? In my opinion, the error is not worth anything close to that. Just accept you need to keep an eye on your account because humans are involved and move on. Sheesh!

I don't know why everyone is always thinking everyone is "out to get something" never once did I ever ask for anything. In fact I'm pretty sure In my original post I even said "morale of the story just make sure you keep a good eye on you accounts. I had no idea a pvp could add something like that without me contacting them or without me knowing"

I wasn't posting it to ask for free stuff or anything at all. I literally was trying to be helpful to others and make sure others know that something like this could happen to them. I had no clue my pvp could add something to my account without me authorizing it. This is why it's a good idea to how what your balance should be, so that if it changes, you actually notice.

I personally am so far removed from reality that it hurts people, but I never thought you were out to get something nor will I ever believe that your PVP would do this on purpose. It's always a good idea to check in on your Carnival account, I do every day.

Nothing wrong with reminding everyone that they should look in on their account regularly.

I had a TA who got my booking cancelled by misapplying my final payment. No email, no nothing. I found out when I tried to go on Carnival website and do my online checkin. Luckily, I was able to get my same room and same rate. We had booked almost a year out when prices were much lower for our particular cruise. No way will I deal with her again. I'm sorry--DH and I work too hard to have our vacation ruined.

So yeah it is kind of a big deal because had you not found the error, you would have the extra charge but the other people would have no insurance which could have turned into a huge issue.

She should have simply apologized. I personally would not continue to use her because attention to detail is important when booking travel and I want to give my business to somebody who actually cares enough to take my travel and any issues seriously.

I agree. Not a big deal now since you saw the mistake and it has been corrected. What if you didn't. You would be out $250 and the other person would not have had the insurance. Could have resulted in it being a BIG deal.

Pretty easy mistake to make, someone contacted her that had a similar name requesting that insurance be added.......not like they were trying to rip you off.

If you believe her "story"....easy way out. We no longer use any PVP's...tried 3 of them...now we book on our own. There is nothing they do for us that we can't do and control for ourselves.....easy peasy!!

Wow, the Carnival board is feisty today!

I personally would not feel comfortable using this particular PVP again. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but like someone else said, it's the way that the mistake is handled/corrected that matters. The PCP should have just said, "A passenger with a similar name wanted trip insurance. I screwed up, I'm sorry, it won't happen again." Not what basically amounts to, "My bad, it wasn't a big deal." Again, I wouldn't feel comfortable using this PVP. Not because I think she'd dishonest, but because she is apparently sloppy at confirming details. And unfortunately, her sloppiness could have cost the OP $250 and the other passenger his/her trip insurance. When I'm spending what could potentially be a large sum of money, I want to be sure that the person that is handling my account is competent and pays attention to details.

Exactly! I have a PVP I've used a few times and I would've been speaking to a supervisor if that happened to me. It's unacceptable and not just a small error. But I have high standards because I've worked in the travel and hospitality industry. Who knows WHY it happened but I don't see that as the point. Not everyone is good at their jobs so I would make a point to note to the higher ups that this error had occurred. I hope most posters realize the PVPs work in a HUGE call center with very high turnover. These aren't experienced travel agents but customer service reps. Adjust your expectations and also follow up on any issues so they may not happen to the next customer. But I'm the type to take the surveys and give feedback whether the service is good or not good. The power lies with the consumer, so why not use it?

on my current booked cruise, i gave it to a pvp who had contacted me several times. She seemed nice enough. Normally, i book all of them myself, but since i was booking ES first, then immediately putting in for casino rate, i thought it best that i use the pvp. During the time before booking, I had several offers for premier cruises and pack and plays. in all the offers, she only contacted me about one, which i knew about 3 weeks prior. So anyway, i decided to go ahead and give her the booking. She asked me to give her the chance. last week our one of our ports on our future cruise was changed. the other two cabins that are cruising with us, got email notification from Carnival. They did not use a pvp. As of today, I still have not heard from our pvp. This is disappointing to me, I feel that she is not on top of things like she should be.

Can i take this booking away from her??? And change pvps, or perhaps no pvp??

I am very happy with my PVP, I wish everyone had one that they were happy with too. There are things you can't handle for yourself, you have to at least call and have someone take care of it for you, I like for it to be someone I have dealt with before when I have to make that call.
