Infinity meals

Infinity docked today in Nanaimo, BC and we went down to the port to view the ship since we are scheduled to do the Panama Canal cruise in Nov. We asked people if they liked the ship and everything got great reviews except the food in both the dining room and buffet. They were shocked to see beans and weiners on the menu and said the dining area as a whole was confused and poorly run.

Is this an odd occurance or is Infinity that bad?

Trust me, there are a lot more items available than beans and wieners. For a typical lunch menu in the buffet there will be dozens and dozens of different items available. Some, like beans and wieners, may be available to satisfy the kids. Some, like stir fry, for those who like Asian foods. There will be a spaghetti bar for people who like Italian. A sandwich station with hand carved meats. And many more choices. There will be a wide variety of types of foods available to satisfy almost any tastes.

The MDR has a good cosmopolitan assortment available during the cruise. Some will be basic fare such as steak or chicken, while some will be more exotic such Herb Crusted Merluza, which is a delicate Spanish white fish served with a tomato rice timbale, grilled zucchini, and ratatouille vinaigrette.

We have never had difficulty finding tasty items that we liked on every Celebrity cruise we have taken, including on Infinity a few years ago, and a couple of months ago on her sister ship Millennium.

PS: if you want an idea of the variety of meals available in the MDR, check out this post from a few years ago. The poster listed every menu during her cruise. It may be a few years old, but from my experience, selections available recently equal or exceed the selection listed.

We have close to 40 cruises on Celebrity, and the one thing we discovered, mostly within the past 6 or so years, is that Celebrity tries to cover the tastes of a lot of people from different countries. On the S Class ships, they even have an area in the buffet called English Breakfast, where the items are made for the tastes of our UK neighbors, including a version of pork and beans. Heck, did you know that Hawaiians eat more Spam than any other state? Our UK friends love their beans.

Believe me, you will find a lot more than beans and franks. You will find a taco bar, stir fry, Indian curries, carved meats, a sandwich bar, pizza, a pasta station and a big salad bar. Believe me, you won't go hungry.

In March we did a btb on the Infinity (29 days ) & I can honestly say no complaints about the food in either the MDR or buffett.

The MDR service was uneven, some nights it was very slow, but always enjoyed our dinners.

Just remember, this ain't the Ritz.
