Tampa port vs FLL

Thinking about taking a cruise from the Tampa port and was wondering how different it will be from FLL that I'm used to?

 

Can anyone shed some light on what I can expect?

Much smaller port, fewer cruise options and farther from the airport - a $25 flat rate cab fare. Good value hotels in the Rocky Point area that offer both airport and port shuttles; lots of hotels near the airport. Getting to sea takes longer and the port is sometimes socked in by fog in the winter months.

 

We focus on the cruise and ports to visit - the departure port is way down on our list.
