Shawski Posted June 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2015 Looking at the deck plans, it appears that the B3 wheelchair accessible cabins (7084 and 7087) on Marina and Riviera are larger than the regular B3s. Has anyone stayed in these cabins? Does anyone know whether they are, in fact, larger and, if so, how much larger? We will need a wheelchair accessible cabin on our next Oceania cruise, so I was curious about these.
StanandJim Posted June 10, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2015 (edited) Looking at the deck plans, it appears that the B3 wheelchair accessible cabins (7084 and 7087) on Marina and Riviera are larger than the regular B3s. Has anyone stayed in these cabins? Does anyone know whether they are, in fact, larger and, if so, how much larger? We will need a wheelchair accessible cabin on our next Oceania cruise, so I was curious about these. The Handicapped cabins on Deck 7 (7082 through 7087, inclusive) are approximately 50 square feet larger than a standard Veranda or Ocean-view Stateroom in their respective categories. The entire stateroom is about the width of a bathmat (2.5 feet) wider than what is average, and the cabin entrance door is wider than is usual, but most of the discernible extra space is concentrated in the bathroom, specifically in the very commodious roll in-roll out shower, which is liberally studded with grab bars. An Alert Button is centrally located. Throughout, the floors are gently slanted so as to eliminate the normal lips on the door-frames. The bathroom sink is specially constructed so that a person sitting in a wheelchair can sit at it and perform ablutions. The mirrors are also adjusted to the height of a sitting person. Shawski Posted June 10, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Thanks Stan and Jim. Somehow I knew I could count on you to come up with the information!
Rare ORV Posted June 10, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Am I remembering correctly that it is Oceania that requires scooters etc. to be parked in the room and not outside the door or down the hall? This would tend to also take up some of that extra room if using one.
tanny18 Posted June 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted June 10, 2015 Just got off Marina and the handicapped cabins were down the hall from ours on deck 7. Not only is the door wider, but the entire cabin is much wider with the closet opposite the beds and not along side and more room to walk, ride, wheel. Didn't see the bathroom, but assume it is as was stated above.
