We will be on the Island Princess Oct. 6 and would like to know if anyone knows the cost of a taxi from LAX to the pier. There will be two of us. Princess transfers are $50 pp and from past experiences in other cities we did better doing our own transfers.

Thanks for your help.

Taxi service would be about $45-$50 for the ride. That's half the amount Princess is charging you plus it's way more convenient to step outside baggage claim and hail a taxi. It's about a 30 to 45 minute ride depending on the traffic. Allow an hour for stressfree arrival.

I signed up for PrimeTime for a shared van from LAX to San Pedro and it is $22 each way. I'm staying at a hotel right near the dock so I don't think it would be any more than that. I believe that for a private van, it was something like $61 for the whole van. They'll meet you and drop you off.

Actually taxi service works out to about the same price as the Princess transfer. The taxi would be roughly $45-50 each way per taxi and the transfers are $50 per person for a round trip. However the taxi would be quicker as you do not have to wait for the bus to fill up. Some of the shuttles would probably be a little cheaper although there have been a couple of postings regarding them not showing up, although there are many, many postings with very satisfied people. By the way, we will be joining you on the trip to Hawaii on October 6th.
