Captain's Club Gift on Celebrity

We are both Captains Club and Crown & Anchor members. On RCL repeat cruisers get a nice commemrative gift each time they sail. On our Adventure sailing last week we got a nice canvas beach bag embroried with the ship name on it. Does Celebrity do this? We are sailing on the Mercury in April and I was just wondering.

we hit captain's club "select" as of this past cruise (Mercury 8/26/05, our sixth X cruise) -- the extra box of Cova chocolates was the only real "gift" along the lines of your question -- but there were multiple other perks such as two cocktail parties (one for all Captain's Club, one for Select/Elite), "behind-the-scenes tours" (theater & galley, at least on our cruise last month - we skipped the theater but the galley was cool), also some kind of wine-related event I also skipped (I am no oenophile), and some coupons for the casino & spa -- the only ones that were really of use to us were the ones for 10 free onboard Internet minutes.

Can't wait till we hit "Elite" level and I can go to the Thalassotherapy pool for free on the C-class ships -- now THAT is what I call a perk! (I know anyone gets it for booking suites but I don't have a suite budget yet, perhaps someday) ... TR (looking forward to double credit for Galaxy 12-nite Panama Canal 4/01/06)

The only thing tangible was the box of Cova chocolates and flowers.

The galley tour was nice - but didn't cost the cruiseline squat. And the coupon book was laughable. At least on RCCL we got something even if it was a toiletry bag and Free internet minutes

Have done 9 cruises with Celebrity (will be on nos 10 and 11 in November) I have received a small container of chocolates from the Captains Club, but that is all (apart from the navy bag in every ones cabin, which I always leave there anyway).

Perhaps you do not get any extra gifts unless you have a CC or Penthouse suite.

I admit I am not bothered by this, I HATE the Blue and White Tile given out by HAL, what can you do with them, plus they are heavy to carry off the ship.

and we got chocolates, 2 more bottles of bubbly, $5 each casino chips which was $5 handed to us for the coupon, a nice purse on the bed last night that was a great tote back that pulled out which we get much use of. The 2nd CC cruise we got another so now we both have one. Flowers in each room are part of CC but a fish bowl of roses in water was an extra given in the dining room.

Amazing how you give them something for free and they call it "laughable". Sometimes we just need to be able to say thank you for something that we are given.

Thanks Celebrity for the coupon book. We use and enjoy ours.

1. Celebrity bills it self as a an up market cruise line as compared to it' sister Royal Caribbean and they share the same lineage. Prices are somewhat higher

for Celebrity and they feature CC as well as butler service. All well and good.

If you look at the "Gifts for C&A Diamond and even Platinum" and these have been discussed ad nauseum on the boards - things like 15 Internet minutes ( none in our Elite coupon book ), $2 free for the casino - same for Rccl, $5 match play, Same for RCCL, Free visit to Johnnie Rockets - ok so no JR, Free

Seattle's Best specialty drink - No free drink at Cova Cafe.

The point being - 10 cruises + on celebrity SHOULD rate something even if it is a set of luggage tags, a toilet kit or something of a marketing piece which no doubt is given to TA's by the ton.

A galley tour and an invitation to High Tea or a back stage tour or a private consult with the future cruise director - is laughable ONLY because it costs

the company little more than the paper to print the invitation

free booze from 5-8 & free cappucino. latte, espresso with breakfast, lunch & deserts for them to enjoy. I am hearing the concierge in the concierge lounge allows folks to use his laptop to sent an email. Nice perk just for saying HI.....

They also get over 55 discounts, early booking discounts, and 15% off booking for being diamond & 25% off for being diamond plus (26 cruises credits).

Celebrity: , yep that's what they give. So if you are not booking 1.5 years in advance & love CC AFT, forget anymore than that. Thati s the only discount when they haven't truly priced the cruise as yet so grab it. It is up $1000 in a year.

Sail with the cruise line that gives you all the free stuff.

Seems a little silly to me to book a cruise based on the "gifts". Like buying a bottle of wine cause of the pretty label. Chances are the wine is not going to be good.

We book and pay for Celebrity for the stellar experience we are going to have. Celebrity normally ends up making it extra stellar for us. That is our free gift. We are more than pleased with that.

While RCCL is wonderful in it own way, the free gifts from them can no way make up for the experience provided by Celebrity. Would much rather have the stellar dining experience on Celebrity than a free gift for example. So again, it is a matter of free gifts or the stellar experience of Celebrity. To each their own.

I think what people want is the free gift and the stellar experirncce.

What a ridiculous reason to book a cruise. Comparing and complaining if you did not get what someone else got. If someone else's luggage gets lost do you ask for the same?

NOTHING IS FREE. You pay for everything, every little gift, every chocolate, every sip of champagne, every complimentary beverage, every laptop minute.

If you do not enjoy what Celebrity has to offer and feel that you are being ripped off, sail with the others. PLEASE. I have no need to be with people with tote boards trying to figure out who got more than them. I had kids. They are grown up now and turned out really well. I have no desire to travel with snivelling grownups who feel unhappy that they did not get a smoothie when THEY DID NOT PAY for one.

Sermon over, you may all now shake hands and give the peace sign to each other.

We are going on the Constellation on Thursday of next week. 13 days in Canada New England. Cannot wait.

I am extremely civilized, care to join us? :D

Oh, and I booked only 9 months in advance, watched my fare go down and then up, snagged the lowest price. I am in CC and will enjoy the damned pillow menu and the pillow top mattress and duvet. I paid for them and will not demand that I get a butler to boot.

PS: I can well afford my own tote bags(leather even) and do not need anyone else's logo on them to make me feel like I am important.

The champagne is not champagne as I have been informed here, but it is a nice guesture on the part of the cruiseline and I will drink it with a smile and gratitude that I do not have to rinse out the glass.

We don't have a CC cabin category on the Galaxy in October. So we are stuck with the pillows we paid for. :)

Have a great time on the Connie!!!

So in effect you are saying that frequent Celebrity cruisers deserve nothing but stellar service?

Funny but all the airlines and other cruise lines say otherwise.

For those of us who either choose not to pay the extra for CC or can't afford it we should just suck it up or get the heck off of Celebrity and find a cruise line that rewards pasengers for sailing again and again.

Well I am not going to argue with you - if that's your opinion - so be it.

Since I am a share holder in RCCL - I have the right to bitch. and since I am C&A Diamond And Celebrity Elite I have a right to compare afinity programs and like many posters try to enlighten management that they need to keep loyal passengers loyal even if it is by a marketing ploy cuz as good as Celebrity is - all it takes is one bad experience and someone will say - well I vote with my pocket book and Celebrity will never know why.

It costs far more to get a new passenger than to keep a loyal passenger

we are about to embark on our 13th cruise in 8 years of marriage. not sure of the hype over gifts. each and every trinket we have ever received has been a joyful surprise. RCCL gave us toiletry bags on one cruise. and yes we got the luggage tags which we never use, but the best surprise was a picture frame from celebrity on our last cruise. it is silver and has a rounded "x" shape, quite nice. we book to cruise not to see what we get for free. we have enjoyed the private repeat members get togethers. but heres a tip for "X" CC members, if you really want to a special cruise with many perks, book a CC reunion cruise. our last cruise was our first "X" , we had attained select level and it was a reunion cruise. many perks from chocolates, to special invitations, to the aforementioned frame etc. yeppers i think we have about 102 days before we set sail again, freebies or not, we're going!!!!!

Celebrity, please take note!!!!! Give something of more than "laughaable value" to Hermang so that the rest of us don't have to hear it anymore. I would hate to see him go to one of those "FUN SHIPS". I wonder if I should book one of those other ships for their free gifts? NOT!!!!!

As for the rest of us, again thanks for what you do give.

P.S. If you do give something to Mr. C&A Diamond Celebrity Elite Stockholder, make sure that it comes out of his dividends and not from increasing the price for the rest of us.

I was curious to see as to what type of individual would be so concerened about "free" gifts. I ran through a good number of your postings to see if they might provide some clue. Nothing! Here I was expecting nothing but complaints, etc. Not the case though.

You come across very nice in your other postings. In some even very funny. You just do not appear to be the type that is hung up on trivial issues. I am not sure why (and maybe I am making more out of your postings on this thread that there really is) you are so down on the "free" gifts or lack of "free" gifts from X.

Anyway, I have put far more effort in this thread than I ever should have. I wish you Hermang and everyone else happy sailings on whatever line you select.

Peace to all and no hard feelings!!! Who knows, we may all be in the same boat one day. Sure as heck want to be having a good time if we are!

rucrusin2 to answer you question

-- Elite Captain club members get a vase of flowers. At least that was what we were told when we found the flowers in our stateroom last cruise.

We now have 5 or 6 of the nice tote bags. never used one as they are really too big for us (seniors). Half the size would suit us better.

Wish they would vary the gift, base on the number of times you have sailed with them. In our case we always go CC or SS and that is why we have so many of the nice tote bags.

With that said we like Celebrity and it is not for the "free" gifts but for the service! :D

Seriously, I raised the issue because so many posters got on the soap box and touted Celebrity as SO FAR ABOVE RCCL when it came to perks. Of course many of them booked in CC or Suites. We will most likely book Celebrity for our next cruise because the ports they offer on So Caribbean are places we have not been to not because they give us a gift.

Actually, if you look back at other posts, many others complained that Celebrity's Elite gifts left alot to be desired - especially in the area of internet minutes. I think between wife and I on RCCL we got 30 on Celebrity this last cruise we got not even 5. Now there would be a perk I would appreciate.

We got luggage tags on RCCL and a nice pin for Platinum - again nothing expensive - just a gee thanks for being loyal and more than a few people asked about it.

So I used the issue as a "tweak" more than a real gripe.

You would have gotten the Tote bags as CC or SS irrespective of being Captains Club Elite - we got the standard totebags which everyone says runs when wet. Which one would think that having heard that from several people, Celebrity would switch to a color that doesn't run <g>
