Out to sea! Posted June 17, 2015 #26 Share Posted June 17, 2015 Lol, I mentally fought back and forth over canceling for a good couple months, but my father and his whole side of the family will be there, coming from all corners of the country. I haven't seen any of them in 20 years.. So.... Ya. I think I'd permanently be shunned if I skipped it for a cruise! [emoji58] If only she'd get married in Bermuda!!! If you haven't seen them in 20 years......isn't that already permanently shunned?? ;)
AEckhardt Posted June 17, 2015 Author #27 Share Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) I posted my first response which I just deleted before reading your good news about the deposit. I am glad it is working out for you and hope, next time you are able to book you remember the guide lines which really are pretty clear and also consider taking insurance, which it appears you didn't have. Enjoy the wedding. I did take out insurance through NCL. Because I cancelled before final payment, insurance was not yet paid for. The new cancellation policies should align with final payment, however, for some reason, the Dawn's suites are not falling under the Haven and other ships suites policies. Final payment was due 75 prior to sailing for an S1, and deposit was substantially less that a Haven. I read everything NCL sent me in relation to my bookings, and as I find I need further information, I research it. If I was to be subject to a 50% cancellation fee prior to final payment, I expect them to notify of such when I call to discuss possible cancellation. They did not, and that seems to be because my booking was NOT subject to such a fee at the time I cancelled. Thank goodness. As far as my family, we were estranged for many years due to no fault of my own, and have only in the past few, reconnected. That is why this wedding is more important than a cruise. Thank you all for your feedback. As most of of know, NCL's communication and execution of policies can be a bit whacky. I'm just glad it worked out in my favor.
