cb at sea Posted June 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2015 No rules...the pacemaker person simply can't be "wanded" at security.. Request a hand search. That's all! After the 1st port, they are likely to wave the pacemaker person thru without any search at all! Hubby's sailed MANY times with his pacemaker (he's on the 2nd one now!)...no worries! SPacificbound Posted June 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2015 Is there any rules or information anyone can provide? I have had a pacemaker/defibrillator since 2003, and have done quite a bit of traveling since then. :) Each time you board the ship your carry on and hand bags go on the belt just like at the airport, and they have the metal detector for passengers to walk through. All you need to do is tell those manning this area that you have a heart device and they will let you in beside the metal detector and one of the crew (same gender as passenger) will do a pat down. If you are traveling with someone else they can grab your bags after they have gone through, if you are traveling alone ask the person who is going to do the pat down to please get your bags. Have a great trip! :)

My wife gets searched every single time. She too is on her second pacemaker. No big deal. Just tell them that you have a device.
