estherwilliams Posted June 22, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) Hello....we are cruising with Crystal from England to Portugal. One of the stops is Honfleur suggesting an outing to Paris. It seems like it might be a nightmare of a bus ride to and from. Has anyone done this excursion? Any suggestions? Rare Hlitner Posted June 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2015 (edited) None! Other then the bus tour (or spending the big bucks to hire a private car/driver) you have no decent options. It would be possible to take a taxi from Honfleur to Le Havre and then catch a train to Paris, but finding a taxi and paying the price (round trip) plus waiting for that train....etc etc. does not make this a great option. There are plenty of reasonable options in that part of France that do not involve the long drive (or train) into Paris. But using Honfleur as a port really makes everything difficult except for pre-booked excurisons/tours. And by the way, we plead guilty to really liking Honfleur. It is one of our favorite places to enjoy a long lunch (at one of the restaurants that lines the harbor) and we enjoy just strolling around town. But the lack of a local train station or rental car agencies makes it a not friendly port for independent travelers. gosport11 Posted June 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2015 We hired audio guides from the library 3.5 euros well spent.Honfleur is a lovely very old town, stepped in history very popular with parsians at the weekends You could hire a car and drive there but it would be a real rush and stressful
