Skipping Belize?

How often does Carnival have to skip Belize because of weather? My son desperately wants to do the ruins and I am reading bits a pieces that sometimes it is skipped port or delayed.

Note: All of ours have been in the Jan/Feb time frame.

They will only skip it if its dangerous. You will get a refund on your port taxes and likely your ruins price if you book it in advanced but definitely ask before you book. Its happened to me with Jamaica and grand caymen (different years, both in the winter) but never Belize. Ive been to belize 4 to 6 times.

We've been to Belize twice before and never had a problem but my son is worried so I thought I would ask and show him it will probably be ok. ;) Thank you all for your answers. We are booking the ruins through Carnival so I would hope to get a refund if cancelled.

We skipped it last November. I was pretty disappointed. But no choice if the weather is bad.

You are traveling in the peak of hurricane season. You and your family should be prepared to have some, if not all, ports changed or missed. No one can tell when or where a tropical storm or a hurricane will appear and go. Seeing the ruins is a nice thing to do, but it's not the end of the world (that happened in 2012:D:rolleyes:). go ahead and make your plans for all your ports, and then wait and see. You could know if a storm coming across the Atlantic is possibly heading in the general direction of any Western Caribbean ports about a week in advance. But you may not know if the ship's itinerary is getting changed until after you are on board.
