butterfly2 Posted June 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted June 28, 2015 We would like to go snorkeling but want to do it going in the water from the beach rather than from a boat. I am a beginner and would like opinions of where to go that would not be difficult to enter or exit the water. I am not a brave soul and not the greatest swimmer so Im on the nervous, apprehensive side. Thanks!
raelynne Posted June 28, 2015 #2 Share Posted June 28, 2015 I would like to know this also. Thanks for asking the question.
itsrocky94 Posted June 29, 2015 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2015 Chankanaab National Park has guided tours for a fee and has much more to do including some ruins and swimming with dolphins. I heard this is the best place to go if you're just learning. If you want to do it on your own for the first time I would recommend The Money Bar. itsrocky94 Posted June 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2015 As an add-on to my previous reply, The Money Bar has stairs that you walk straight down into the water with
train460 Posted July 13, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 13, 2015 we took a taxi to the money bar last year and enjoyed it for the food, drinks and easy access for snorkeling. Michael
JohninDC Posted July 13, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) Money Bar also offers rental gear and guided tours if that is something you are interested in. We typically bring our own mask and snorkel (my mask is customized with my prescription - otherwise I bump into too many reefs :o) and we typically rent the rest of the gear. A brightly colored t-shirt or rash guard will help make it easy for other snorkelers to spot you plus helps to prevent sunburn. Money Bar is about a $10 cab ride from the piers (up to 4 in the cab) and offers great facilities plus good food/drinks/service. http://moneybarbeachclub.com/ Edited July 13, 2015 by JohninDC
