Free wifi in Mallorca?

Recommended Posts

Free WIFI is very common in Spain. Palma is a little special as many of the ships now do not even dock at the main cruise terminal and a shuttle is necessary for 5 euro to the city.

You will find almost every café, McDonalds, McCafe, Burger King, Library, department store and public building will have free WIFI.

Here is a map compiled almost one year ago.

There are many many missing from that map, but it gives you an idea of how common it is to find WIFI.

Are there any free WIFI spots right near where you dock? Or are there place in Palma that you can get free wifi?

I was once told never to use anyone's "free" WiFi to access Bank accounts or do anything of a confidential nature. Apparently private networks, ie in MacDonald's can be monitored by dishonest employees and in the public ones crooks can eavesdrop and get your personal details, passwords etc.

Best to carry a portable hotspot or use you smartphone's hotspot if you want to do anything more than update social media pages.
